Notes 🎶 from Mr. Chen
LYSO Music Director
Dear LYS Families,

Our season finale is coming up fast and we are all looking forward to an amazing event after loads of hard-work. So please spread the word and invite everyone :)

We would like to try a new and exciting outreach program aimed at developing partnerships between LYS and local high schools , beginning with Niwot High School for our upcoming concert in May. NHS students will be invited to join our full symphony orchestra and perform one of the most famous masterpieces of Dvorak: The "New World" Symphony on May 19th. NHS students are required to attend three Saturday rehearsals (full rehearsals) leading up to this concert, and as well as the warm-up rehearsal right before the concert on Sunday, May 19.

We believe this partnership will be a win-win situation for both LYS and the partnering schools, and we will use this May concert as a means to assess if we carry this type of partnership into next season.  LYS will be reaching out to other community schools to gauge their level of interest and will plan to rotate across these schools for our concerts throughout the season.  We welcome your feedback on this approach following the May concert!

Warmest Regards,
Mr. Chen
Notes from the LYS Board of Directors
Greetings LYS Families,

Over the past month, we have been evaluating candidates for our wind and string ensemble music director positions. I would like to thank our current music directors, the search committee members, and  especially the students and parents  who provided valuable input into this process. It was very important to have a variety of perspectives, and  I appreciate everyone who participated  in providing feedback on our candidates.

Taking all the input under consideration, the search committee compiled a ranking of the candidates which has now been approved by the board of directors. We are  in the process of offering the positions to our preferred candidates  and expect to have more details available soon as we work through the offer and contract process. We also look forward to  introducing our new directors  at the season finale concert on May 19!

Take care,
Jon King
LYS Board President
