Beginning January 30, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., and through February 5, 2024, the Office of the Comptroller is conducting crucial upgrades to Maryland’s tax system. The planned upgrades to the system will pave the way for the launch of Maryland Tax Connect, a new secure, online self-service portal that will modernize how Maryland businesses file their taxes and interact with our agency.
The Office of the Comptroller is committed to completing the upgrade as quickly as possible and resuming full service by February 6, 2024.
Marylanders file taxes every month. While they acknowledge there is no perfect time to implement a new tax processing system, their team of experts determined this time frame would allow for few disruptions. Completing the migration in early February:
- allows for business tax filers to complete their end of the year filings due in January;
- aligns with a period where we traditionally see the lowest volume of filers;
- avoids delays that would create additional reporting challenges and cost the state millions of dollars.
Maryland Tax Connect will provide taxpayers with access to secure, easy-to-use tax filing, that can be done from a computer or mobile device.
By 2026, all Maryland taxpayers will be able to pay their state taxes through the Maryland Tax Connect portal.
