Greetings from the East,

September is the month for constitutional observance. Please join us at our September Stated dinner where we will have a presentation on the U.S Constitution by Bill Miklos, PM.

In August, we had two 3^rd Degrees. Brothers Juriaan Chompff and Jerry Hayes were raised to Master Mason. Congratulations to both! I would like to thank the brothers who attended the degrees to support these special events, and the officers for their hard work and excellent degree work. We will possibly have two degrees in September and notifications will be sent with further information. Brothers, please make every effort to attend and support our degrees as this shows support to the candidates and fellowship within the lodge.

Last month, I covered the topic of delivering Masonic degree Charges. If you would like to learn a Charge to deliver to a candidate, or if you have experience, please reach out to me for more information.

Saturday, September 9^th is our Annual Lodge Picnic, please RSVP, we need assistance to set up and clean up.

Constitutional observance is an important aspect of Freemasonry because the Constitution of the United States is considered the foundation of modern democratic government.

Many of the Founding Fathers of the United States were Freemasons, and through their efforts, they developed a society that promoted democracy and was committed to upholding the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As Masons, we strive to set an example for others in society and communities by demonstrating compassion, kindness, temperance, and respect along with Brotherly love, relief, and truth.

The history of Freemasonry is a long and complex one and the origins of Masonic writings can be traced back to the Middle Ages. The earliest known Masonic texts contain some sort of history of the craft of masonry and the oldest known work of this type is The Halliwell Manuscript, also known as Regius Poem, which dates from between 1390 and 1425. This document has a brief history in its introduction, stating that the “craft of masonry” began with Euclid in Egypt and came to England in the reign of King Athelstan (924–939).

The first Masonic constitution was published in London in 1723 by James Anderson, who was commissioned by the Grand Lodge of England to compile a set of rules and regulations for the fraternity. The document was titled “The Constitutions of the Free-Masons” and it contained a history of the craft, charges to which all Freemasons were expected to adhere, and general regulations governing the administration of Grand Lodge and Masonic Lodges.

Since then, many other Masonic constitutions have been published, each unique to its jurisdiction and designed to reflect the values and traditions of the organization in that area. These constitutions outline the rules and regulations that govern each organization, including the duties and responsibilities of its members and officers.

In 1787, 39 delegates (many of them Masons) representing 12 of the 13 states, signed the stirring revolutionary document called the U.S. Constitution. Bro. George Washington, who had presided over the convention, afterwards invited the delegates to a farewell supper at Fraunces Tavern before taking cordial leave of one another. And so was born the document designed, "to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, ensure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense promote the general Welfare, and secure the blessings of Liberty for ourselves and for our Posterity."

Delegations from 12 states (Rhode Island did not send a delegation) at the Constitutional Convention at Philadelphia, PA, voted unanimously to approve the proposed document. Thirty-nine of the 42 delegates present signed it and the convention adjourned after drafting a letter of transmittal to Congress. The proposed constitution stipulated that it would take effect when ratified by nine states. The period between September 17-23 is celebrated as Constitution Week by Presidential Proclamation issued every year since August 2, 1956. Thirty-nine men signed the Constitution, of which 13 (or 33 percent) were at that time or later, became Freemasons.

I would like to give credit to the scholars, masonic and otherwise, who, by their knowledge and writings, enabled me to put this article together.

Hello Brethren and Ladies,

If you love heat, then August was your month. Man, that was a hot one! Even with the heat we still were able to have a couple of third degrees, so please join me in congratulating our newly raised brothers, Juriaan Chompff and Jerry Hayes. Congratulations Brothers!

While looking forward to fall and cooler temperatures, we can also look forward to a few things throughout the month. We start the month with our stated dinner on September 7 which will be catered by the Kabob House in Folsom. Then, of course, we have our fantastic breakfast with bacon galore, and yes it is still just a $5 donation so bring a loved one, a not so loved one, or a friend - bring whomever you want, just come join us and enjoy a hearty breakfast fit for a king.

Looking ahead, we may have another 3^rd degree which is always an enjoyable night, well, as long as the AC works! So listen with an attentive ear and keep an eye on those emails for further details. Remember Brothers when the call comes for sideliners we want to support.

Speaking of emails, you may have seen the call to arms regarding our upcoming picnic on the 9^th of September. We are going to need help, with set up, cooking and everyone’s favorite activity, clean up!! The RSVP list will be going out soon so bring a dish and bring the family lets have some fun and enjoy some good barbecue together.

Greetings Brethren,

Lots of activity with our candidates this month. Bros. Shahin Mogharab, Melvin Manalo, and Donald Hampton are all making great progress in EA degree. Bro. Greg Lane is almost ready to be raised. 

Congratulations to Bros. Juriaan Chompff, and Jerry Hayes who have been raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason.

From Natoma Rainbow Assembly #90

Hello Masons of Natoma Lodge! Here’s a little about what Natoma Assembly has been up to.

We have had so much fun at our regular meetings on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month. Our Worthy Advisor, Aubree, has done such a good job picking themes to make the meetings more engaging.

On the 26th of August, we had our Service Saturday and our assembly worked on sensory blankets for Alzheimer's patients. See photos.

In September, we are holding a membership event, which will be a scavenger hunt at the Roseville Galleria Mall. It will be a super fun way to bring more members in!

We are also spending a lot of time preparing for our Official Visit of the Grand Worthy Advisor on October 1. This is when the girl leader of CA Rainbow comes to visit and we show off our floorwork and memory work, as well as prepare a fun skit for her and our Supreme Inspector, after which we will present our funds to help support this year's Grand Service Project, Banding Together, a nonprofit whose mission is to bring music opportunities to individuals with special needs.

This year, the theme we selected for the Official Visit is “We are district 32, we speak for the trees!” which is based off of the movie, The Lorax. So, if you aren’t busy on Sunday, October 1 at 2:00 p.m. we would love to have you join us at the Lodge for this event!
