Weekly news & updates
October 19
We're so excited to see you!
In this weekly newsletter, we first list relevant information for ALL campuses.
Then we break down campus-specific announcements by campus
Announcements for Everyone:
Picture Days are almost here!
Portrait Day is coming to Homeschool Connections (see the schedule below).

Photographs will be taken for the school yearbook and complementary student ID cards so please dress and comb hair accordingly. New this year, we will be more environmentally conscious and implement COVID safety measures by having all portrait viewing and ordering take place online after Portrait Day. You will not have to fill out any forms beforehand. You will receive a special link and password via email to view and order your child's portraits about one week after portrait day.

Similar to previous years, parents can come and be photographed for a Homeschool Connections Teacher ID for $5

If you have any questions about Portrait Day please contact Chris Belli at Midtown Event Photography (586.219.0063 or chris@midtowneventphotography.com).

Homeschool Connections Portrait Dates/Times by Campus
  • Monday Oct 26th at Clarkston Campus from 11:00AM - 1:00PM
  • Tuesday Oct 27th at Rochester Hills / Faith Church Campus from 11:00AM - 1:00PM
  • Friday Oct 30th at North Rochester / Rochester Church of Nazarene Campus from 11:00AM - 1:00PM
  • Distance Learning students wishing to participate may do so at any campus
For CCS Families: It's Count Week 2!
Count weeks are for Homeschool Connections students who are receiving tuition from CCS. Count weeks begin on Wednesdays and end on Tuesdays. We are currently in Count Week #2.

Count Week #1: October 7-13 - Week 1 went great! Thank you parents!
Count Week #2: October 14-20
Count Week #3: October 21-27
Count Week #4: October 28-November 3

To satisfy CCS count requirements, your child will continue the twice weekly two-way communication that has been occurring with the mentors on campus and through email or phone calls. However, if your child is absent from campus or is working virtually during the count week(s) you MUST make two-way communication with the CCS mentor teacher each of the count weeks in order to keep CCS paying for your child's classes. If you miss even one of these 4 weeks your child will NOT receive the fall class fees payment from CCS and you will owe Homeschool Connections directly for all of the child's class fees.
Reminder: Fill out the Health Form
When you do not fill out the health form, a campus supervisor will then need to have you come into campus to fill out the form in person before your child can go to class.

The form is sent out at 5 pm the night before your child's classes. It stays open until 7 am on the day of your child's classes. Only one form needs to be filled out per family. We have tried to make this as easy as possible.

If you need help setting up the Remind app, notifications, or texts, please call Vickie at 248-710-0360 (ext. 2007).
Please send a water bottle (or 2) with your child to campus!
All drinking fountains are turned off at every campus. Please send water with your child every week!
Electronic Policy Reminder
There are no phones, computers, iPads, or shared technology allowed during classes or lunch.

The only exception is study hall (but still no sharing).
We STILL need lunch moms and dads!
All of our campuses are in need of additional lunch moms and dads. Lunch parents help setup for lunch, sell snacks and pizza, help children open packages, tear down lunch tables, and sanitize.

Parents that help weekly at lunch will have all of their students' lunches compensated at the end of the semester! Reach out to your campus supervisor if you're available and interested!
Have you filled out these required forms?
Dress Code Reminders
Please make sure that your clothing (including prints on facemasks) are appropriate for ALL ages! Nothing scary!

We do not dress up for Halloween on campus - nor should political t-shirts, hats, etc. be worn to campus.

Thank you for joining us in the effort of making sure that EVERYONE feels comfortable on campus!

Clarkston Campus (Clarkston Community Church)
Session 6 - October 19
Adults must wear face masks or shields
We were recently informed by Clarkston Community Church that all adults must wear masks or face shields in the common areas of the building only. This means that if you are coming in with your child(ren) you must wear a mask or shield. Children are not required to wear masks at any time. Teachers and staff do not have to wear a mask or shield in the classrooms. Campus Supervisors will be wearing a mask or shield while others are present at the desk. Thank you for your understanding of this unforeseen change.
Pizza Day is November 2
Pizza must be pre-ordered and paid for with your campus supervisor. Slices are $1 each. Options are cheese and pepperoni.

Attention to Parents
To help our teachers and students start class on time, we kindly ask that parents say goodbye to their children in the gym.

If you have specific questions or concerns for their teacher, please contact them and schedule an appointment.
Please send a water bottle with your student! Drinking fountains are unavailable.
CCS Families: Mentor Meetings
For CCS families, you may come to campus up to 15 minutes before your first class in order to do the zoom call with your mentor.

Thank you for your patience as we have worked through some bugs and tried to figure out the best way of getting this done!
Please bring appropriate clothing for outdoor recess!
When students finish their lunches, campus supervisors will take students to the outdoor playground! Please send a warm jacket and appropriate shoes as the days are getting cooler.
Weekly Health Assessment Form
Welcome to a new school year! We use a communication tool called Remind to help our families stay informed and up to date.
Remind is a safe and free messaging app. It allows us to quickly send out reminders and other important information and helps us stay connected throughout the school year. In order to sign up to receive these messages, please follow the instructions for one of the options below:
Distance Learning
Session 6 - October 19 through October 23
If you need help with Orbund or accessing the Google Meet links, please contact Help@MiHomeschoolConnections.com.
Live Sessions
During each weekly live session, please make sure you mic and camera are on so that you may participate in the class. If you don't have a mic, you are able to call into the class. Ask your teacher how.

If you do not participate in a live session, even if you are signed in, you will be marked absent from the Google Meet.
Switching from Google Meet to Zoom
Unfortunately, the ability to record lessons and live sessions was removed from Google Meet this past week. Recording live sessions is imperative for students who couldn't make the live session.

We are in the process of switching completely over to Zoom for our live class sessions. We appreciate your patience as teachers learn the new platform.

All families will need to download Zoom which can be done so through this webpage: https://zoom.us/download#client_4meeting

You will find the Zoom link for each class in Orbund with the rest of your homework (same as before).

If you have questions or need help, please contact Vickie at help@mihomeschoolconnections.com.
Picture Day - You're invited too!
Virtual program students, please make sure to join us as we want you represented in our yearbook. Virtual program students are welcome to sit for their portrait at any of the campuses, dates, and times noted below.

Please read the full details above in the general announcements. Similar to previous years, parents can come and be photographed for a Homeschool Connections Teacher ID for $5. If you have any questions about Portrait Day please contact Chris Belli at Midtown Event Photography (586.219.0063 or chris@midtowneventphotography.com).
