Hi Brother Knights and Other Catholic Friends,
Here is a summary of my talk last night at our Patriotic 4th Degree Assembly meeting in Westboro that I thought might be of interest.
1. Since some Knights and many Catholics don’t know or care about their duties as US Citizens we have created the attached simple 1 page flyer “What Does Our Catechism Say We Must Do in Politics??” right from the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Here is one excerpt:
“2239 It is the duty of citizens to contribute along with the civil authorities to the good of society in a spirit of truth, justice, solidarity, and freedom…Submission to legitimate authorities and service of the common good require citizens to fulfill their roles in the life of the political community.”
So please read the entire page, obey our Catechism and please distribute this flyer to the Catholics you know who want to follow definitive Church Teaching!
Additionally, attached are the Knight’s Guideline for Political Activity and Pope Benedict’s Call for Political Activity.
2. Now knowing our duties, you may subscribe to the new Knights Newsletter Faithful Citizenship. Just look up KofC Faithful Citizenship and subscribe. Here is a link to the latest issue https://conta.cc/3Xssx25.
It is very helpful to understand the important issues and what we must do as Faithful Catholic Citizens and Knights!
In this issue you can quickly see that the new House of Reps has passed the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act which ensures infants born alive after a failed abortion receive the same protection as any newborn.. It passed 220-210. You can visit the House Clerk's website to see how your rep voted. Now the Senate must act! ….. write or call your two U.S. Senators and respectfully ask them to support this Act.
Also the House passed a Resolution 222-209 to condemn attacks against religious and pro-life facilities. Visit the House Clerk's website to see how your Congressman voted.
The next pro-life bill expected by the House is the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, which would permanently ban the use of taxpayer funding for abortions, like the Hyde Amendment, which had to pass yearly. You can let your Congressman know you support this life-saving bill by visiting the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Action Center today!
Finally, consider contacting your Congressman to either thank them for their pro-life vote or to respectfully express your hope that they will vote pro-life in the future.
3. It is great hearing all many are doing in getting new members. However, it is important to remember activities like the Men’s Conference and Prayers at Church, which I will now address, are very good ways for anyone
to meet and invite men to join the Knights.
The 22nd Worcester Diocesan Catholic Men’s Conference will be held at Assumption College on March 25. It promises to be another inspiring occasion with a great Keynote speaker, Fr. Chris Alar, who is the Provincial for the Marians of the Immaculate Conception for the Western Hemisphere and the head of the Divine Mercy Shrine in Stockbridge.
4. Finally, as Catholics and Knights we are called for extra Prayer and Eucharist Adoration at this most important time in our world, church and country’s history.
If you don’t get it, please go on line at https://www.kofc.org/ and subscribe to the KofC Nightline for more information including KofC Flyers on the Rosary and Adoration Holy Hours. For example, at St. Luke’s in Westboro, Adoration starts on Tuesdays after our 9am Mass with the Holy Rosary and we pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3pm, Respect for Life Prayers at 5pm and a beautiful Benediction at 6pm.
At your local church, you are encouraged to drop in any time or for a Holy Hour to adore Jesus, pray, and thank God for all His Blessings. Pro-life prayers are especially important at this time because not only do our Bishops and Supreme strongly encourage them at this time of the Eucharist Revival but it is the Preeminent Issue of our Catholic Church.
We are reminded that Eucharist Adoration is not an ordinary Devotion but an extension of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Source and Summit of our Faith. We are reminded of the various prolife activities the KofC supports including Pregnancy Centers, our ASP program , donating Ultra- Sound machines, etc.
Please feel free to forward copies of this talk. May God bless the Knights and all you do! Thank you for you attention.
