Greetings!
This week is National Public Service Recognition Week and Teacher Appreciation Week. As we end the 7th week of the Coronavirus Shelter in Place health order and the 10th week of the City’s response to this health crisis, the City Council and I are proud of how, in the face of these emergency conditions, every City of Pacifica employee has risen to the occasion and played a critical role in our emergency response to this crisis. Similarly, the school districts have undertaken extraordinary efforts to handle the Coronavirus disruptions to education. So thank you to all who work in public service and education!
Lots of great information below, so please check out items of interest to you.
Take care and stay safe. We are #PacificaStrong.
Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE

Great Plates Delivered
Find out if you or someone you know is eligible!
|

On April 24, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom announced the launch of a first-in-the-nation “Great Plates Delivered” program, matching older adults at high risk from COVID-19 with local restaurants to provide 3 nutritious meals a day.
Great Plates Delivered has two purposes:
- Help seniors and other adults at high risk from COVID-19 to stay home and stay healthy by delivering three nutritious meals a day, and
- Provide essential economic stimulus to local businesses struggling to stay afloat during the COVID-19 crisis.
If you would like to learn more about this program or receive meals, please call County of San Mateo (Hotline): 1-800-675-8437. Determine eligibility by

- Watch a brief overview of the project.
- Take a short survey to help shape and prioritize our recommendations.
- Look through the interactive map of bike projects in your area to “like,” “dislike,” and comment on them.
- View the draft pedestrian recommendations.
Explore the website to learn more about the project and timeline, or dive right into the online open house if you’re ready to share your input.

Pacificans Care
Provided
Emergency Fund Grants to Local Agencies
|
|
The Pacifica community has rallied to support the Pacificans Care Emergency Fund, established to address the needs of Pacifica’s core social service agencies in the event of a major disaster that interrupts normal day to day activities of Pacificans for a prolonged period of time.
To address current emergency needs Pacificans Care recently provided a total of $18,000 in emergency grants to fund the following programs and services. Because of your donations:
- Pacifica Senior Services is serving up to 200 Grab and Go lunches a day to seniors who pick up, what may be their substantial meal of the day, from the center.
- The Pacifica Resource Center now has a container-size refrigerator unit to store produce and grocery items for food deliveries to over 200 Pacifica families and emergency rental or mortgage assistance to families in need as a result of job loss.
- Jefferson Union High School District Student Assistance Program is able to provide 130 Pacifica high school students their breakfast and lunch.
The coronavirus pandemic is not over, the need continues. . .

|
|
The
2020 Left Coast Annual
(
LCA) Exhibition
was scheduled to open at Sanchez Art Center, Pacifica, on Friday April 10, 2020. As the world turned upside down with the spread of COVID-19, it became clear that the exhibition would not be able to take place in-person as communities responded to shelter-in-place orders to protect public health. Artists and Sanchez Art Center Staff, (Janet Barker, Program Manager and Cindy Abbott, Executive Director) pivoted to create this first show in new virtual galleries.
Navigating the Galleries
: The three little bars at the top or center of the page provide access to the virtual galleries website menu.
The
2020 Left Coast Annual (LCA) Exhibition
was juried by Carin Adams, Curator of Art at the Oakland Museum of California. Enjoy a leisurely “stroll” through the gallery of 50 pieces by 49 artists (out of the over 800 pieces entered) selected by Ms. Adams by scrolling through the “
2020 Left Coast Annual Exhibition Art
”. Click on an image to learn more about the artist and their inspiration. The “
Artists in the Exhibition
” page allows you to dive deeper into an artists realm by clicking on their name to be taken to their website.
Enjoy browsing the galleries and return to visit again and again!
(Sanchez Art Center, a 501(c) nonprofit organization is currently closed due to the coronavirus global pandemic. All involved from the Board of Directors, staff and the 29 artists in residence look forward to welcoming you again when it is safe and the time is right to again gather, engage and be enriched by the arts.)
