Church History Celebration This Sunday!

Everyone is cordially invited for a lunchtime celebration of First UMC Hampton’s 230 years of ministry so far! Lunch will be a Potato Bar provided by the Missions Committee, with donations going to support our involvement with Project Crossroads.

Come and share your stories of FUMC and the Hampton area, especially drawing on your own experiences. Bring any scrapbooks, photo albums, documents, or other materials that will help us see the bigger picture of how God has been at work here over the years. Invite friends or family who may have participated in the past to come and reminisce with us.

Together, we will celebrate all that has been accomplished so far for Christ and the Kin’dom of God in this community, as we look to the future of our congregation and where God may be leading us into new ministry opportunities.
School Supplies Needed

Please bring in school supplies for Bassette Elementary School - anything and everything kids might need - by Sunday, August 25. A donation box is in the Narthex for the supplies. We will bless all donations in worship on Sunday, August 25, as part of our Blessing of the Backpacks. If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Eason at

Blessing of Backpacks

Invite the children, parents, teachers, and school staff in your life to worship on Sunday, August 25, to receive a blessing and a small token to remind them that God is with them everywhere they go.

Contact Rev. Kerry Greenhill ( with any questions.
Keep the “Red Room” in mind if you are decluttering!
Proceeds from sales support our United Methodist Women’s Missions. We need and appreciate your donations of gently used treasures that can find a new home. You bring it in and we can sell it! We will take just about anything except electronics and furniture.

Contact Brad Allsbrook, (757) 722-1816, with questions.
Nursery Volunteers needed!  To provide a safe environment for the littlest ones in our church family, we are required to have two unrelated adults in the nursery each Sunday. If you can volunteer to work with our paid childcare worker either during the Sunday School hour or during worship (or both!) on an occasional basis, please contact Meg Moore at 202-549-7548 or . If we get a large enough pool of volunteers the commitment should only be a few times a year. Men and women are welcome, as are youth 16 or older. We would also like someone to act as nursery volunteer coordinator, so please consider if this is the job for you!
