Thank you for Blessing Bassette Elementary!

Thank you to all who brought in generous donations of school supplies and backpacks for the children of A.W.E. Bassette Elementary School. Donations were delivered to the school's Family Engagement Specialist, Diane Campbell, on Monday.

As a Title I school (meaning many low-income families), Bassette has ongoing needs. The Missions Committee would like to encourage the various circles, small groups, and households in our church to support the school in different ways throughout the year. If you are interested in volunteering, there is a Volunteer Orientation meeting at 11am on Thursday, September 12. More information will be coming soon!

Please contact Rev. Kerry at to learn more about the needs and opportunities for getting involved.
What’s going on in the church office?

Some of you may have stopped by and found the office empty. While our new Business Manager, Bill Boyer, is working hard to keep the finances of the church running smoothly, we are relying on volunteers to keep the administrative side going. Emails and phone messages are being checked regularly, but if you want to stop by please make an appointment by phone or email first.

We are starting to interview the applicants for the part-time (20 hours per week) Administrative Assistant, so please be patient as your Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) finds the very best person to work in our office. If you have further questions, you can contact SPRC Chair Meg Moore at 202-549-7548 or

Nursery Volunteers needed!  To provide a safe environment for the littlest ones in our church family, we are required to have two unrelated adults in the nursery each Sunday. If you can volunteer to work with our paid childcare worker either during the Sunday School hour or during worship (or both!) on an occasional basis, please contact Meg Moore at 202-549-7548 or . If we get a large enough pool of volunteers the commitment should only be a few times a year. Men and women are welcome, as are youth 16 or older. We would also like someone to act as nursery volunteer coordinator, so please consider if this is the job for you!
