Dear friends and neighbors,

In March, we celebrate Women's History Month and National Agricultural Month.

There is plenty to cheer for. We have reached some remarkable milestones in gender parity: did you know that 55% of Napa County's elected officials are women? In the California Senate, 21 of 40 members are women and 38 of 80 members in the Assembly are women. Getting here was a journey that took a lot of time and hard work, and the last step happens at the ballot. Way to go, voters! Learn more about Women's History Month here.

For National Agricultural Month, Napa County acknowledges the vital contributions of all those who grow food, wine grapes, and raise animals. Local 4-H members brought two well-behaved rabbits to the March 10 Board of Supervisors meeting to highlight their work. Teachers and students can participate in the 21st annual Agricultural Day at the Napa Valley Expo on March 26. This FREE community event co-hosted by the Napa County Farm Bureau and Napa County Agricultural Commissioner is fun for all ages.

Aircraft Noise Concerns: UPDATE

There is currently a seasonal lull in air traffic at the Napa County Airport. Meanwhile, Napa County and partners continue to work toward a long-term solution.

Congressman Mike Thompson has offered his full support as we advocate for an alternative published approach with federal partners—one that would meaningfully reduce disturbances to Napa County residents. His partnership strengthens our ability to push for changes at the federal level, where flight paths and airspace decisions are ultimately made.

Additionally, the City of Napa's Mayor, Scott Sedgley has sent the Board of Supervisors a letter of support in the County's efforts to find an alternative flight path that is less disruptive to the community.

BDR & General Plan Update

The Public Draft Baseline Data Report (BDR) is now available for public review. This report serves as the foundation for the General Plan Update. We will be hosting another round of community workshops during the public review period that we hope you can attend.

Both workshops will offer an overview of the draft BDR and provide opportunities to share your input and feedback. The content of the workshops will be the same, so please attend the one that works best for your schedule.

Your partnership and continued feedback will help shape Napa County's future!

NBRID Election Results

On January 20, 2026, John Tuteur, Registrar of Voters, announced the results of Napa Berryessa Resort Improvement District Measure A. The measure required at least a 66.67% "Yes" vote to pass voters supported the measure with a 71.65% majority. The special tax effective date is July 1, 2026.

This special tax for the Berryessa Highlands and Oakridge Estates will help move towards a fully funded operation for water and wastewater service in these communities. The passing of this measure will allow the District to qualify for potential grants, and all funds collected will be used to:

  • Balance the annual water and wastewater operations budget
  • Execute planned preventative maintenance and equipment renewal
  • Make emergency infrastructure repairs and replacements
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations

Community Preparedness

It is the right time of the year for wildfire whacking and chainsaw operation. See resources for homeowners from Firewise and for agricultural land managers from Napa County before you light up pile burns.

Many older adults in our community live alone and may need extra support during an evacuation. Take time to check in with neighbors and work together to build a more resilient, connected community.

Below are some helpful resources to support your preparedness this season. You can always find local resources at Ready Napa County.

The Napa Communities Firewise Foundation mission is to reduce the risk and impacts of wildfires through fire fuel reduction and community education in Napa County.

Imola Avenue Affordable Housing Project

Napa County has received questions regarding a proposed affordable housing development on a five-acre parcel along Imola Avenue near Skyline Wilderness Park. This is not a Napa County housing project. The project is being led by the State of California through its Excess Sites Program. The State retains primary authority over site selection, funding decisions, environmental review, and project approvals.

Before the County purchased Skyline Wilderness Park, the State had already identified and retained a separate five-acre parcel along Imola Avenue for potential housing use. That parcel was not included in the County’s long-term park preservation footprint.

The proposal remains contingent on state funding and approvals. If funding were secured this year, construction could begin by late-2027 at the earliest.
