Get To Know Your Shift Coordinators!
With the Super Pantry open six days a week, six hours a day, keeping Daily Bread running like clockwork requires people to wind it up. Key to this effort are our 12 Shift Coordinators, who help onboard new volunteers, keep everyone busy, and ensure the team is having the prescribed amount of fun, but no more.

Get To Know Your Volunteer Coordinators!
| | If being a Shift Coordinator is a tough job, try being a Volunteer Coordinator. These three musketeers make sure every shift has enough volunteers to run smoothly and perform a myriad of other volunteer-related tasks. Let's find out what they are all about. | | Ever since the super pantry opened, we've had a plentiful supply of pineapples. Very appropriate, since pineapples have long been associated with hospitality and a warm welcome to guests. Here's one little nugget who couldn't be more pleased to take one home. | |
Mayor Alves and Rep. Santos | We were recently honored to welcome Mayor Roberto Alves and State Representative Farley Santos to the Super Pantry. The Mayor, Rep. Santos and many others at City Hall helped us navigate through the many approvals and sign-offs needed as we prepared the pantry for opening. Thank you Mr. Mayor and Rep. Santos! | | | Not surprisingly, the Super Pantry has been quite the news story. We've been featured in countless media outlets, at least if you can't count above two. Click the picture to read the News-Times article (unless you are thwarted by a paywall) and here for a story in the Redding Sentinel. | | | Danbury Food Collaborative | | | The Danbury Food Collaborative is an amazing organization that brings together a diverse group of people, all working to address food and nutrition insecurity in Northern Fairfield County. The DFC meets once a month, but Daily Bread has never been able to host a meeting because of the tiny size of our Terrace Place location. No such concerns at 125 Park Avenue! | | We've had some amazing food drives recently, helping keep our shelves stocked with a wide variety of pantry staples. But a special mention must go to Sophia Bran, who checked all the boxes with her campaign to donate birthday cake kits for her Eagle Scout project. Sophia, of Troop 19 in Ridgefield, created an Amazon Wish List, collected items outside of Stop & Shop, and then gathered a team to assemble the kits. The result: two carloads of deluxe birthday cake kits, complete with cards and candles. Thank you Sophia! | | Evan the Van - Two Years On | | | Before the Super Pantry, our electric van was the latest big thing. Hardly a newsletter appeared without a story about its latest exploits. It's been feeling a little ignored recently, so here's a recent photo of it getting loaded up at the Midwest New England Food Bank in Manchester, CT. Don't worry Evan, we still love you! | | So many of our volunteers have amazing artistic skills! There's Pattie Thompson, of course, who designed the mosaic in the registration area, but there are many more - and probably even more we don't know about. | | Elizabeth has contributed not one, but TWO spectacular quilts to our burgeoning Super Pantry art collection. Here she is with her tribute to Frida Kahlo. | | | Back in March, Holli exhibited some of her encaustic paintings and mixed miedia works at The Meetinghouse in Ridgefield. You can find out more about her work here. | | | Sophia, Colin, and Miguel staffing up the registration desk the other day. Turns out you don't have to remember the Nixon administration to volunteer at Daily Bread after all. | | Not everyone follows us on our socials (for shame!), so here's the most liked post on Facebook and Instagram over the last couple of months. Henry (at left) decided he would ask folks to donate to Daily Bread instead of buying presents for his birthday. He stopped by with dad, Matt, to drop off the proceeds. Thank you Henry!
