NAMI Southern Arizona Needs Volunteers

YOUR NUMBER 1 MENTAL HEALTH NON-PROFIT NEEDS YOUR HELP NOW MORE THAN EVER!
We are getting into our busiest time of year and we can't do it all without you! We are currently looking for volunteers for the following:
  • Office/Clerical work: we are looking for someone that can assemble materials for our educational classes, and fold newsletters and brochures
  • Receptionist: we need someone that can greet customers, and answer phones. The receptionist hours are from 9AM-1PM and 1PM-5PM. You may choose once a week or multiple days a week, it all depends on your availability.
  • Support Group Co-Facilitator: We need someone that can help with our NAMI Connection Support Group. Meetings take place twice a month, every first and third Monday of every month.
  • Presenters: Ending the Silence is an engaging presentation that helps audience members learn about the warning signs of adolescent mental health conditions and what steps to take if they or a loved one are showing symptoms of a mental health condition. Presentations include two leaders: one lead, who shares an informative PowerPoint presentation and a young adult (aged 18-35yrs) with a mental health condition who shares their journey of recovery. Even though Ending the Silence is a volunteer opportunity, you are compensated for your time with stipends. There is a brief online training that you need beforehand. After that, you would come in to the office to rehearse giving a presentation in person and then you would be ready to go!
  • Outreach: Setting up a table at an event and handing out brochures about our services.
  • Family to Family Teacher: To become a Family to Family Teacher, you must first complete an 8-class course via Zoom. This program is for family and friends of adults with mental illness.
  • Peer to Peer Teacher: There are two classes to complete before you can become a P2P teacher. The first class is an 8-class course via Zoom, then you must complete the Peer Leader Training which is a 3-day training also via Zoom. This program is for the individual with a mental illness.
if you feel you can assist NAMISA by filling in with any of these positions, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Marisol de La Rosa at mdelarosa@namisa.org or call the office at (520) 622-5582.
