| | Brampton's Tech Ecosystem Scores Big at Courtside Capital | |
The Brampton Innovation District and the City of Brampton’s Invest Brampton team hosted Courtside Capital: Where Tech Meets Sports during Toronto Tech Week. In collaboration with the Brampton Honey Badgers, this event at the CAA Centre brought together over 200 founders, investors, and ecosystem leaders.
The evening featured six prominent investor groups providing direct access to capital, alongside 15+ dedicated community partners like Toronto Tech Week, TiE Toronto, and Sports Tech Canada.
Congratulations to the 20+ startups who showcased their technology in Innovation Alley, including Innovation District stars and alumni FANLINC SPORTS, BurnOn, ELO, ZENERGY, TritonWear, Unyfer, Aurmada, LINKSPORTS INTERNATIONAL CORP., Next Play AI, and DataCoach.
Our ecosystem partners were present to support the event, including Brampton Venture Zone by TMU, Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, Bhive, Altitude Accelerator, Brampton Entrepreneur Centre, Algoma University, and Sheridan College.

Congratulations to Brampton's Central Peel Secondary School Space Club, led by Simona Matei, on their recent delegation to City Council.
The team earned the grand prize at the National Space Society’s Gerard K. O’Neill Space Settlement Contest, becoming the first Canadian team to take top honors against thousands of students worldwide. Recognition goes to Simona Matei for the leadership that brought this achievement to the forefront.
The Big Picture: Wins like this demonstrate that Brampton’s talent pipeline operates at a global standard. From classrooms to international stages, local students are actively participating in the future of the space economy alongside industry organizations like Brampton-based MDA Space.

By providing essential mentorship, community connections, and technical resources, the District helped empower these students to build creative tech solutions and hone their collaborative skills.

The Brampton Venture Zone by TMU (BVZ) welcomed its 2026 BVZ Launch cohort. Joined by partners from Invest Brampton, TMU School of Medicine, and the Brampton Board of Trade, the event marked the start of a four-month incubator designed to help MVP-ready health technology startups validate their products and secure local pilots.
Congratulations to the 2026 cohort: LBx Bio, WiseLoop, NewGen Health, LOCVM, Athel AI, Oakwood Biology Inc., DIA Labs Canada, AcceptingMD.ca, Aevist Inc., and PatientCompanion.
These founders are addressing healthcare challenges with medical devices, digital platforms, and AI solutions. The program concludes this September at the 6th Annual Brampton Venture Expo (BVX), where the top founders will pitch live at Demo Day for a chance to secure up to $70,000 in non-dilutive funding.

This unique initiative gives Brampton-based entrepreneurs ages 14-29 a prime platform to showcase and sell their products during peak Farmers’ Market hours.
Selected participants will score a booth in the BEC Co-working space, gain hands-on vending and customer engagement experience, and hear from empowering guest speakers.
