Bring your flashlight and your sense of adventure as you head into the wild to find what the Easter Bunny has left behind. Gather some treats and trade in your empty eggs for a roasting stick and marshmallow. Participants must be accompanied by an adult. One adult may accompany multiple children from the same household. Advance registration required.

Join the expert birders of Kane County Audubon on a leisurely walk through Norris Woods Nature Preserve, a natural area noted for its diverse plant and animal life. Spring migration will be in full swing! Bring your binoculars, or borrow a pair of ours, and prepare to be dazzled by birds decked out in their finest breeding plumages. Held at Norris Woods Nature Preserve.

Come face to face the man in moon as we blast off in our pretend rocket ships! Use your imagination for this "space-tacular" adventure that celebrates the day when the moon is closest to the Earth. The rise of the moon might be passed bedtime, but this down to Earth version will let you blast off for some fun. Adults are free.

Meet some critters inside who will share their excitement about the warmer weather and longer days. N EW! On the Move with Frogs & Salamanders

After a long winter, who's ready to get outside and get moving? We are! And so are our local frogs, toads and salamanders. Meet Hickory Knolls' resident amphibians and then embark on an invigorating hike to a wetland to see why these animals are out and about so early in the season. Ages 8-15 must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Majestic oaks have graced the landscape of St. Charles for centuries. Learn the history of the federal land survey of the 1800s and how surveyors notes help us understand the natural habitats that existed here prior to settlement. Following a presentation we will hike out to see several trees in the Hickory Knolls Natural Area that were mentioned in the survey notes and are still alive today.

Christine Shanesy, founder of Soul Connections Energy Healing, will teach you about crystals and their relationship to energy along with the benefits and how to combine crystals for enhanced energy and healing. Additional crystals ranging from $2-$5 available for purchase day of from instructor. Held at Pottawatomie Community Center.

River of Birds

The Fox River fills an essential role as a migration corridor for birds heading to and from their breeding grounds. Spring is an especially colorful time to head out and see these stunning creatures on the move. Baltimore orioles, indigo buntings and a host of warbler species are a few of the possibilities we might see flitting among the trees of Pottawatomie Park and the Native Plant Garden. Indoor slideshow followed by outdoor walk; binoculars provided or feel free to bring your own! Held at Pottawatomie Community Center.

The Hickory Knolls Discovery Center is a 10,500 sq. ft. building featuring a spacious lobby that soars
more than 20 feet in height, with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame views of the oak savanna just
outside the doors. Audio visual technology and wifi available. Access to nature center exhibits and
grounds including native gardens and more than 130 acres of natural areas.
