Greetings,

DID YOU KNOW that a study from Current Developments in Nutrition found that physical activity showed a protective association with depression through mediation of HDL cholesterol (HDL-C), highlighting a metabolic pathway in the association between physical and mental health?

Promoting physical activity and optimizing HDL-C concentration not only helps your heart, but your brain as well in preventing depression? We love it!

Wellness Screenings

Standard Blood Work

For a list of standard blood tests for new or existing clients, please go to this page and look at Steve or Bonnie's wellness forms. You can now get our blood test requirements through Quest Diagnostics Labs at its thousands of locations across the country. This is the perfect option for those who do not want to, or cannot, go through their physicians. The cost is very reasonable. Text our office for details.

Stool Analysis

For gastrointestinal, autoimmune, or allergy-related maladies, stool analysis is a wonderful way to detect how to heal from the inside out.

Genomics Testing

For lifestyle and diet-related genetic predisposition, go to the "Pure Insight" section below.

Food Reaction Testing

Because true food allergies are rare, please Email Steve or Bonnie for authorization to get our IgE food allergy, IgE mold/fungus allergy, or celiac panel. For questions about the tests and how to prepare, contact our office staff.

Infection Support

Year-round infection is the new normal. We are exposed to many endemic viruses including SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), influenza (flu), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), norovirus (stomach flu), adenovirus (common cold), monkeypox, and four other coronaviruses (common cold), among others. Support your immune system with our Free Prevent and Fight Infection 3.0 Protocol here.

Warning: Counterfeit, Adulterated Supplements Online

On the internet, especially at Amazon, there is an epidemic of counterfeit, adulterated, and purposely mislabeled dietary supplements. Recent analyses of methyl vitamin B12 supplements sold on Amazon found only 56% met label claim. Only 14 of 35 oregano oil brands met label claim. A study from JAMA Network Open found that half of immune products analyzed from Amazon had labels that did not match the contents. Amazingly, aman was arrested for selling counterfeit Pure Encapsulations products.Know your supplier!

This Journal Love Zinc

Steve: Seven recent studies, all published in Frontiers in Nutrition, laud the myriad benefits of zinc or lack thereof. It is apparent that this journal is doing its due diligence on zinc!

Atrial Fibrillation

Zinc deficiency may serve as an important independent risk factor for incident AFib.

Dementia

Zinc deficiency represents an independent, modifiable risk factor for new-onset dementia.

Intracerebral Hemorrhage

Zinc deficiency is a novel, independent, and potentially modifiable risk factor for ICH.

Oral Cavity and Teeth

One study found that zinc deficiency impairs antioxidant defenses for oral cavity cancer. Another study found that dietary zinc intake reduces the risk of hypertension in periodontitis patients.

COVID-19

Zinc deficiency was observed in 28.6% of children with COVID-19 and was not dependent on age.

Cognitive Impairment

Higher plasma zinc levels and higher zinc/copper ratio were associated with lower odds of mild cognitive impairment in type 2 diabetes patients, while higher copper levels alone increased the risk.

NOTE: managing your zinc/copper ratios, with zinc being higher than copper (but you still need some copper), is essential.

Case Report

Multiple Maladies Vanish

A late middle-aged women came to see Steve presenting with blood sugar imbalance, hypothyroid tendency, anemia tendency, recent SIBO, food sensitivities, sinus issues, arthritis, and history of GERD. She was on no medication. She provided blood work which showed a significantly a weakened immune system, anemia, and elevated HbA1c among others. She also did our PureInsight genetic wellness screening.

There were several problematic aspects of her diet, including eating gluten, drinking kombucha, tonic, and ginger ale. She was eating conventional deli meats which was problematic because she had a mutation of the gene that helps quell the negative effects. Moreover, she was not balancing her meals.

She was also taking numerous supplements that were not right for her because of contraindicated ingredients. She was double or tripling up on some vitamins, minerals, and herbs spread throughout her regimen.

After making all the necessary adjustments based upon Steve's recommendations, it took about a year for her to see improvements across the board. Her blood work improved dramatically, as did her symptoms. Suffice it to say she was thrilled with her progress. With all of the major health issues behind her, she continues to focus on optimizing her overall health so she can feel good day after day.

Did you have a great experience working with us? Please let others know by leaving a review here.

Chiro Corner NEW!

Have You Tried Cupping?

I hadn’t and was curious about it. According to the Cleveland Clinic, Cupping therapy is an ancient healing technique that reportedly decreases pain and inflammation, loosens muscles, improves range of motion and blood flow. Cleveland Clinic says that this therapy may help with arthritis, back, neck, knee, or shoulder pain, breathing issues including asthma, carpal tunnel syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, other gastrointestinal disorders, headaches, migraines, and high blood pressure.

They explain that this tool uses the force of suction to draw fluid and blood to or away from specific areas of the body. The suction force expands and breaks open tiny blood vessels called capillaries. The body replenishes the cupped areas with healthier blood flow to stimulate proper and normal healing at a cellular level. Because of this effect, some people think that cupping releases toxins.

In my deduction since the fascia is right under the skin, the cupping will also help release fascial restrictions, which can enhance range of motion, reduce soreness, enhance circulation and relieve stress. Not only will blood flow improve during cupping but the lymphatic tract that travels next to the blood vessels, will most likely be affected as well. This can help with swelling and the immune system. Perhaps that’s why there are so many benefits with cupping that one wouldn’t have thought of.

I’ve chosen to add this tool personally and in my practice with select patients as it’s not for everyone. Initially the suction may feel a bit stingy and uncomfortable yet within a handful of seconds that eases up. Red marks from the cupping go away within a week or two. The devises that I use have a timer, infrared heat and a pulsing mechanism. Another way to help people on their healing journey.
