A Chance to Dance for Special Needs

Join Rockin Our Disabilities and their weekly chance to Dance class. This dance class is a great way for children and adults with special needs to get involved in an extracurricular activity while improving motor skills, confidence, and socialization. Dance can also be a unique and effective way to reach students with special needs because it is nonverbal. Through simple patterns, sequencing, and repetition, students will learn the basics of movement, rhythm, and jazz dance.

A staple in the budding Los Angeles jazz & swing scene, the Jason Fabus Trio features highly sought-after saxophone player and songwriter/arranger, Jason Fabus, on saxophone, vocals and piano, joined by guitar and upright bass. The group's repertoire focuses on tight and swinging arrangements of songs from the Golden Era of American music, spanning from the 1920s to the 1950s.

Can a little squirrel change the human heart? After getting sucked up by a vacuum cleaner, a (now hairless) squirrel is rescued by Flora Belle Buckman, a 10-year-old self-proclaimed cynic. She names him Ulysses and discovers he has been reborn a superhero. Indeed, this once average squirrel can suddenly understand Flora, fly, and even write poetry. Together they embark on an adventure full of quirky characters and bursting with heart.

Recommended for ages 8 and up.
