10th Mountain is delighted to announce that the
High Lonesome Hut
is the latest addition to the 10th Mountain Division Hut System.
• Reservations through August 2023 are available online (www.huts.org)
or by phone (970) 925-5775.
• Availability is limited this winter because the owner accepted reservations before formal inclusion in the 10th Mountain Hut System. There is good availability this summer. Reservations for next winter will be available for members via a High Lonesome Hut-only lottery in May—stay tuned!
• Andy Miller, a contractor in Grand County for 30 years, designed and built this hybrid timber frame hut in 1995. Available to the public since construction, the hut has been recently refurbished with new systems, layout, and other improvements.
• High Lonesome Hut has running/potable water, solar lights, a flush toilet, hot shower and propane kitchen stove with an oven.
• High Lonesome Hut Welcomes Dogs. This is the only hut reserved by 10th Mountain that allows dogs and it is because water is provided from a well (not snowmelt) and whole hut reservations are required.
• High Lonesome Hut sleeps twelve people and whole-hut reservations are required. Cost: $600/night.
• High Lonesome Hut is located at 9,300’ northeast of Winter Park, Colorado.
• The suggested winter and summer route from the trailhead to the hut
is a short 2.5 miles over rolling terrain that climbs 600 feet.
