You're Invited to a Community Presentation |
This summer, HMS faculty and staff read The Future of Smart, by Dr. Ulcca Joshi Hansen. This book has been chosen for our "One School, One Book" for the year and we will all get the opportunity to hear straight from Ulcaa during a Community Presentation on September 13, at 6:00 p.m.!
We will have a Meet the Author reception at the end of her presentation. Books will be available for purchase before and after the event.
Click here to register and learn more about the presentation. This event is open to fellow educators, neighbors, and friends.
Ulcca is an experienced and thoughtful educator who has had the opportunity to learn along side people like Ted Sizer and Sir Ken Robinson. Her book is helping us to think outside ourselves and beyond our walls. During our early release day teachers will have the opportunity to work with Ulcca as we think about how her research and questions might influence and improve our own work at HMS. SHARE will be hosting book talks about The Future of Smart throughout the year. You won't want to miss this inspiring presentation! RSVP today!
For more about Dr. Ulcca Joshi Hansen, please visit her website: https://educatingpotential.com/

Important School Portal Login Change | You will receive an email about a required update to your Blackbaud login credentials. Blackbaud is the company who hosts our school portal. Due to a security update that Blackbaud is implementing, all parent accounts have been set up with Blackbaud’s new BBID security features. This setup is required in order to maintain access to your Blackbaud account. After September 27, you will no longer have access to our school portal if you have not updated your login information. Please be on the lookout for the email with the link to convert your account to a BBID. Thank you! | |
Hello from SHARE! We are the family volunteer organization at High Meadows, and we are looking forward to working with all of you to make this a fantastic school year. We are excited to introduce you to your class room parents at Back To School Night and can’t wait to get started on all the exciting things we’ll do together this year.
To help kick off the year, we ask all families to submit their SHARE Appreciation Dues, which fund the cash gifts and other appreciation events for our amazing teachers and staff throughout the year. Dues are $35 per student, and families may pay dues for multiple students in one payment. Please include child(ren)'s name(s) in the Memo/For line. Payments may be made directly to Monica Duggal, the SHARE Treasurer, via: Venmo:@mondug or PayPal: monduggal@gmail.com.
You can find more information about SHARE on our page on the HMS portal. Feel free to contact any of our board members listed there if you have any questions or if you would like to be a volunteer!

At High Meadows we are lucky to have experienced and licensed nurses in our Health Center every day.
Recently, Kate Stonebraker, RN has joined Darlene Coyne RN, FNP and Deanna Fetsch, RN, CPNP to cover some well-deserved time off.
In order for the nurses to coordinate care and have access to the same information, please address all health related communications (including COVID-related issues) to healthcenter@highmeadows.org or call 678-507-1180. The Health Center Hours are from 8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days.
We continue to monitor the health of our school community and want families to be informed in order to make the best personal health decisions. Though we are no longer conducing contact tracing, we will inform classes (Pre-K through 5th grade) or grade levels (Middle Years) if we are made aware of three or more cases of COVID-19 in those groups. As always, we recommend and support the wearing of masks indoors during times of elevated transmission.

We have enjoyed settling into a routine at High Meadows and opportunities to get to know students and families over the past few weeks. One thing we have been working on with students is the responsible use of technology, both on campus and away from campus. Teachers, High Meadows staff, students, and families all have an obligation to work together to continue to keep our school safe and welcoming. Part of that responsibility is how we create community through technology.
In order to have open communication with your child, please consider some of the following tips for technology use:
- Make your own family media use plan and monitor your children’s devices including phone, computer, social media accounts, and apps that your child has access to on each device they have access to.
- Set boundaries and expectations and keep the lines of communication open about those expectations.
- Trust but verify your child’s use of technology. Do not allow your child to have a password protected phone or app that you cannot access, no matter what the age as long as you are paying the bills for that device.
- Make expectations and consequences of breaking rules of technology known to your children.
- Set a good example of responsible technology use on social media, phones, and other devices.
For more resources and information regarding technology use, please continue reading here.
