Counselor's Corner - No Place for Hate
HMS has been designated as No Place for Hate for the 2021-2022 school year! No Place for Hate (NPFH) is a program designed to rally the entire school around the goal of creating a welcoming community that is committed to stopping all forms of bias and bullying. The components of earning this designation include setting up a NPFH committee, signing the pledge and three activities that are designed to foster equity and harmony in our school community.

  • In the fall, a peace vigil was coordinated by Ms. Danielle Wright. This event was a beautiful celebration of peace in all its forms – in ourselves, in our community, and in the world.
  • The second activity was a food drive that was coordinated and promoted by our middle year’s activism club and the NPFH committee. We collected two car loads of donations that went to North Fulton Community Charities.
  • For the third activity, Mrs. Shannon Wright created two beautiful “Kindness Boards.” Students are invited to take an encouraging message from the board and pass it on. Students also create new messages to add to the board to keep the kindness flowing. I am amazed by how quickly the messages are passed around every time the board is replenished.
Summer Reading Coming Soon!
Summer Reading Lists will be available mid-week on the Library website, https://highmeadows.library.site.

For Lower Year's families, they will also be uploaded to SeeSaw.
Ignite the Wonder at High Meadows
High Meadows has accomplished great things this year, thanks to the support of our incredible community. There is still time to invest in High Meadows School and make an impact on every student, every day. May 31 is our giving deadline, and we hope you'll join us.

Thank you to everyone who has already contributed- we are up to 72% parent participation this year! You generosity has been extraordinary. Thanks to the 72% who have donated $293,000 which supports Connections & The Arts, Our Teachers & Professional Development Opportunities, Technology & Innovation, Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, Greens & Grounds, and Financial Aid. We appreciate you!

We also want to give a big THANK YOU to our faculty & staff for their 92% participation in the Fund. Giving not only of their time (and sweat/tears...) but giving back with their hard-earned pay is evidence that they care about High Meadows, the children who learn here, and the success of both.

For those who haven't given yet, there is still time to invest in our students and teachers by making a gift today. Your gift will bring in the $7,000 remaining to hit our annual giving goal for the year. Click here to donate and "Ignite the Wonder" at High Meadows.

The High Meadows Fund is an essential way that every family at HMS can unite in appreciation and a shared commitment to support the school. Thank you in advance for supporting the High Meadows Fund today. Click here to read through the 21-22 High Meadows Fund brochure. If you have questions about the High Meadows Fund, click here to read through our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Many of you have asked to see the participation breakdown by grade level. As you see below, every grade has room to increase giving and help us raise the remaining $7,000. Kudos to first grade for having the highest rate of participation! THANK YOU!

Participation by grade level:
Pre-K: 58%
K: 81%
1: 83%
2/3: 79%
4/5: 65%

Talented Artists Place in Regional Competition
Eighth grade GISA visual art winners Clementine P. and Lila S. advanced to the SECIS Regional Virtual Art Competition where they again took 1st and 2nd place in ceramics. This is the first time HMS students have received this honor. Congratulations to these talented artists!
SeeSaw Archive
Throughout the year, students and teachers add content to Seesaw, capturing many of the unique learning experiences at High Meadows. At the end of the year, we encourage families to download an archive of their student’s year, creating a digital collection of items added to the class journal, organized by month. Families will need to sign in to Seesaw from a browser (apps on a mobile device will NOT work) and download the archive in account settings. For step by step directions click here , or you can view a video here.
Health & Safety Update
As of today, May 16, we have three people in isolation due to COVID-19.

Please report any students/faculty/staff who are either in quarantine due to exposure or in isolation due to positive test. Email Nurse Darlene at dcoyne@highmeadows.org with information or any exposure/isolation questions.
