If you follow me on Social Media, you may have already seen this video of my crazy Patterdale Terrier dogs, full of energy and tenacity, getting out into the freshly fallen snow from earlier this week. It's worthy of watching and hopefully will bring a smile to your face.
Even in a place as strong and resilient as Tahoe-Truckee, weeks like this remind us how closely joy and heartbreak can sit side by side. We can cheer for our Olympians with full hearts, feel the magic of global connection, and still hold deep sorrow for our own community at the very same time. That’s what it means to live here. Our lives, our mountains, and our people are intertwined.
As we move through the days ahead, I hope you find small pockets of comfort: a wagging tail, a shared meal, a quiet moment in the snow, or simply the presence of someone who understands. Let’s keep looking out for one another, checking in, and giving ourselves permission to feel it all, the pride, the grief, the gratitude, and the love that binds this community together.
We’re Tahoe-Truckee. We show up for each other.
And we’ll continue to do just that.
