Common Ground ep 4 .png

This week on Common Ground:

What does the "Ways and Means" Committee do, and why does it matter?

NH State Representative Mary Hakken-Phillips shares why she was compelled in 2020  to run for office for the first time, joining fellow freshman NH Rep. Russell Muirhead with VT Reps Becca White and Jim Masland on Episode 4 of Common Ground.  Topics include contrasting experiences legislating in VT vs. NH during the pandemic, with a deepening of the partisan divide in NH and the challenges for freshmen legislators to build relationships with each other and across the aisle to "get the work done."

Dartmouth Sings a cappella.png

Dartmouth Sings a cappella

Talk about high notes. Seven colleges sent singing groups to perform at the 18th (almost) annual a cappella concert in Brattleboro. One stood above the rest— The Dartmouth Sings ran away with the show with performances of Carrie Underwood's Before He CheatsWork Song by Hozier, Daoi Freyr's Think About Things, and Back Pocket by Vulfpeck.

"Wheels and Waves" Substance Abuse Assistance

U.S. Representative Peter Welch. of VT and Dr. John Brooklyn of the Howard Center address bipartisan congressional grants and efforts to bolster medically-based substance abuse treatment and recovery programs to fight an epidemic devastating our communities exacerbated by the Covid pandemic.

"A beautiful facade" on Intersections Podcast

In episode 7, our guest relates their story of falling out of love with the Upper Valley: the ugliness they have uncovered behind the community’s beautiful facade, the false lure of inclusion disappointed by the enduring reality of the harm being caused to black and brown bodies here in this space, in these times.

To share your story or questions with co-creators Michelle and Julius, you’re invited to email them at: [email protected]
