Piezo Materials for High Power Applications Made in the USA!

Piezoelectric ceramics manufactured from "hard" piezo materials are characterized by having higher mechanical quality factors (Qm) and lower dissipation factors (dielectric losses, tanD) relative to soft PZT's. Ceramic components produced from these "hard" compositions are less susceptible to depolarization from heating under high duty cycles and/or stress. Generally, a lower dissipation factor allows for the use of hard piezo materials in applications that require higher voltages or larger mechanical loads.

Anyone looking for alternatives to the hard

PZT-4, 5400, 5800, etc. groups of materials should check out the APC-840 material.  With its low dissipation factor and high Tc and d33, it's a great potential fit.

For the PZT-8 family, 5804, etc. contact APC to try our APC-880 material.

For special or custom applications, APC-841 material combines the benefits of both 840/880 material.

Common high power applications for hard piezoelectric ceramics include:

  • ultrasonic cleaners
  • ultrasonic atomizers
  • ultrasonic welding
  • ultrasonic mixing
  • high power actuators
  • sonar devices
  • high frequency transducers
To ensure the highest quality piezoelectric ceramics, APC manufactures its full line of piezo materials, including hard PZT's - APC 840, APC 841 & APC 880, in its state-of-the-art powder facility. APC's powder manufacturing facility offers:
  • Powders proudly produced in the USA
  • A material source that is well positioned for defense, medical device, and industrial oriented customers
  • Superior consistently and material quality
  • Engineering support to assist with material selection and design
