Council meetings have returned to the joint Council Chambers at Town Hall on Macleod Trail. Please come attend in person if you can. Once new technology is installed in chambers, we will resume with live-streaming of the meetings.

Things to Watch For

Canada Day Festivities and Fireworks

Free family activities at George Lane Park between 10 AM and 2 PM! Stage bands, Car Show, Market and Kid Zones. Note roads will be closed within the park. No sanitation dumping during these hours. Head to Emerson Lake – 9 – 11 PM for a Glow Party and fireworks at approximately 10:45 PM. Note Road Closures (9th St SE, 9th Ave SE between 9th St. SE and 12th ST SE). Park early; it will be busy.

Canada Day Garbage Collection Schedule

  • Friday Garbage Pickup July 1 will be picked up on June 30.  
  • As always, place bins out by 7 AM, please.  
  • The Recycle Centre will also be closed on Friday, July 1, 2022.

River Monitoring Update

  • Our Town’s Protective Services team continues to monitor flow rates and will provide an update to residents if significant changes are seen.  
  • Residents can monitor current river flow rates and levels at rivers.alberta.ca.  

Canada Day Facility Closures

Town of High River facilities will be closed on Friday, July 1, for Canada Day. Emergency Services are not affected by the statutory holiday closures. For all emergencies, dial 9-1-1.


Facility closures include:  


  • Town Hall   
  • Family and Community Support Services   
  • Family Centre   
  • Public Works   
  • Recycling Centre   
  • Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex   
  • High River RCMP Administration Office.

Residential Property Sale

The Town of High River is selling fourteen residential properties located on Riverside Drive and High View Park.  


  • The Town plans to sell two properties every two weeks - one single detached family and one semi-attached home.  
  • Details about each property and how the sealed bid process will work are posted at highriver.ca/property-sale.  
  • The final open houses for the Residential Property Sale are set for July 12, 2022.  
  • 634 & 635 Highview Park    
  • Each property for sale backs onto the Highwood Golf Course. A sealed bid sale will be used to sell the properties fairly and transparently.

Fireworks Reminder!

Permits Required for Safety

  • “Consumer fireworks” are BANNED in the Town of High River. Purchase, sale, discharge or storage of firecrackers is prohibited and is a bylaw offence, which may result in fines.  
  • Fireworks permits are only issued to individuals who are licensed fireworks operators, and permits are required to discharge within High River. Permits can be obtained by calling the High River Fire Department at 403-652-3774.
  • The current regulations are established to ensure the safety of people and property within the Town of High River.
