Council Meetings

Tuesday, October 11, 2022


Council meetings have returned to the joint Council Chambers at Town Hall on Macleod Trail. Please come and attend in person if you can. The Livestreaming of meetings is back! Visit highriver.ca/council-meetings to tune into the Livestream and to view the agendas. To watch later, visit High River’s YouTube channel. 


Note that Council meetings next week are on Tuesday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday on October 10:   


  • Regular Meeting of Council: 3:00 p.m.

Thanksgiving Holiday Closures

  • Town offices will be closed on Monday, October 10 for the Thanksgiving holiday. There are no changes to the garbage collection schedule.
  • Closed are Town Hall, Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex, Fire Administration, RCMP Administration, Family and Community Support Services, Public Works and the Recycle Centre.
  • Emergency Services are not affected by these closures. Always call 9-1-1 in an emergency
  • Town facilities re-open with normal hours on Tuesday, October 11.

Free Youth Be Active Hallowe’en Dance

Plan Your Costume!

  • Hosted by Town of High River Parks and Recreation
  • Event is for youth ages 12 to 17 years old
  • October 28 from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. at the Cargill Field House
  • Free entry if you are wearing a costume and prize for the best dressed!
  • Scary movie in the Youth Lounge
  • Pool will be a regular Youth Be Active drop-in
  • Jumpstart and Food Bank Donations are welcomed for this event!

Family Hallowe'en Boogie October 28

  • Family Fun - same place, same night at the Youth Dance - earlier time!
  • Cargill Field House from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Get down and boogie! 
  • Photo booth, costumes contest, games and more.
  • This event is free and hosted by the Town's Parks and Recreation 
  • Jumpstart and Food Bank Donations are welcomed for this event!

Sports Swap - Take it, or Leave it! 

  • The Sports Swap continues!
  • It was so fun during Health and Wellness Week this fall that we set up a wall to carry on this great initiative.
  • Please come by the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex to donate, or to pick up free gently used donated sports items.

Construction Corner

Your Feedback Requested - Bank Armouring Project to Reinforce Riverbanks

  • Watch the Town’s website and social media for your invitation to provide comments on this project and subscribe to receive Town news to your inbox here: highriver.ca/news
  • River clean-up is completed in multiple locations along the Highwood River.
  • The next step is  a Bank Armouring Project to reinforce the riverbanks
  • The goal of this project is to further protect residents from future high-water events
  • Some access to private property will be required to complete this project


October 7 is the Last Day to Submit Questions Hampton Hills Bypass Survey

  • High River residents are invited to view project info and submit their question or comment on the project website.
  • Project design is underway, and construction is slated for spring 2023.
  • Your questions and comments will be useful during the design phase this winter. The final design will be approved by Council, after which the project will be tendered next spring.
  • Once plans are finalized, they will be shared on the project website, including a construction schedule.
