High School Office Hours

Monday - Friday

7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Dear High School Families,

Last week’s 50th Gala was a wonderful celebration of God’s faithfulness to VCS over the past 50 years. We are grateful to share that the event raised more than $140,000 and counting to support important priorities for the future of our school.

At VCHS, we are also looking ahead to next year in important ways. ASB elections are now underway, providing students with the opportunity to step into leadership, serve their peers, and help shape student life on campus. Chapel leadership applications are also currently being received for students who want to help lead that program next year, which is an important part of how we cultivate Christ-centered leadership, student ownership, and a vibrant spiritual culture in our high school.

New Absent Grading Policy

The middle school and high school absence and late work policy has been updated to provide clearer and more consistent expectations. Students with excused absences will continue to have one day per day missed to complete their work. Instead of immediately assigning zeros, teachers will mark assignments as “Absent” or “Missing” and include updated due dates. If work is not completed within two weeks, it will be reviewed, and a zero may be entered no later than three weeks after the absence. This update is intended to improve communication and ensure fair, consistent grading practices for all students. A link to the full policy and updated handbook guidelines is provided below for your reference.

Faculty Introductions

VCHS is pleased to announce the hiring of a new social studies teacher for the 2026/2027 school year.  Sean Song brings a wealth of experience, expertise, and global perspective to our  Social Studies department. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Minnesota and holds a master’s degree in Communications from the #1 university in Korea, Seoul National University.

Mr. Song is fully credentialed in Social Sciences in the state of California and has over a decade of experience teaching at the high school level. Throughout his career, he has taught a wide range of Advanced Placement courses, including World History, Human Geography, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Comparative Government and Politics. His diverse teaching background also includes American History, Korean History, English Language and Composition, and middle school social studies.

In addition to his classroom instruction, Mr. Song has extensive experience preparing students for standardized exams, including the ACT, SAT, TOEFL, and has worked in ESL programs.

On a personal note, Mr. Song is married. His wife is a doctor and will be pursuing her medical career here in Northern California in the near future. He also has a beautiful toddler daughter.  Mr. Song has a passion for serving on missions trips, plays bass on his church worship team, and has served as a church Bible teacher. He is also fluent in English, Korean, conversational in Japanese, and understands basic French.

Mr. Song shared that he believes teaching should shape not only what a student knows but what he/she becomes and he was drawn to VCS because of the school's commitment to integrate faith with academic excellence. He desires to create a classroom where students are encouraged to think critically, grow in their faith, and treat others with compassion.  He describes himself as being a teacher who teaches from the heart with a deeply caring mindset and with the ability to build great rapport with his students.

We feel very fortunate to have Mr. Song joining our staff and the VCS family for the 2026/2027 school year.

Mr. Jesse Allen will be joining the VCHS staff for the 2026/2027 school year as a part of our science department.  Mr. Allen obtained his BS in Science Education from Western Governors University and holds a Masters in Education Technology and Instructional Design from Western Governors University. Mr. Allen has also formally taught instrumental music and audio engineering since 2015 and personally plays 12 instruments. He has played on a number of worship teams and has even played professionally in Nashville.

Mr. Allen has taught Biology, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and for the past 3 years has taught Environmental Science and AP Environmental Science at a large high school in Texas.  He looks forward to teaching in an environment where scientific learning can be beautifully melded with a Christian worldview.

Mr. Allen feels teaching is a calling, not a job.  The role of a teacher is to steward student’s curiosity, cultivate wisdom, character, and to support the formation of young people intellectually, spiritually, and ethically.  He values classrooms that encourage thoughtful discussion, respect for truth, and care for students as whole people created in the image of God.  He is looking forward to serving within a school community that partners closely with families and upholds both academic rigor and faith-centered values.

We look forward to the contribution Mr. Allen will make on our campus with his educational background, talents, and experience and we are so pleased he will be a part of the amazing VCHS staff next year.
