GGUSD's Class of 2025 Graduates Poised for Success

More than 3,000 high school seniors from GGUSD graduated from the district’s eight high schools during graduation ceremonies held May 27-28 at the district’s stadiums at Bolsa Grande and Garden Grove high schools.

GGUSD friends and family members filled the stadiums to cheer on their graduates. Ceremonies featured inspiring student musical performances as well as heartwarming speeches from students, principals, and board of education members, reading of the names, presentation of class gifts, presentation of the Class of 2025, and awarding of diplomas.

Among the Class of 2025, more than 950 students report that they have chosen to attend a UC or CSU school. Students in the Class of 2025 finished high school with more than 9,900 Advanced Placement courses completed and earned more than 10,200 college credits through GGUSD’s dual enrollment opportunities. Students also completed more than 1,100 Career Pathways. Intermediate School Students Well-Prepared for High School

This week, we celebrated our eighth-grade students during heartwarming commencement ceremonies held at our ten intermediate schools. These scholars have demonstrated tremendous academic and personal growth and are well-prepared to begin the next step of their educational journeys, advancing to high school in the fall! Monroe Students Continue on Spanish Dual Immersion Pathway

The sixth-grade promotion ceremony at Monroe Elementary Language Academy (MELA) held last week was a beautiful and heartfelt celebration, filled with unforgettable moments. The event featured student awards, inspiring speeches from students and staff and a special tribute to beloved sixth grade teacher Mr. Nunez who has been at MELA since it opened. In a touching highlight, Mr. Nunez was joined on stage by his family and a group of his original students, who thanked him for the lasting impact he’s made at Monroe as he transitions to his new role as Teacher on Special Assignment. Principal Cesar Loya uplifted the crowd with a powerful message, reminding students that they are bilingual, brilliant, and capable of changing the world. We are proud of this outstanding group of Monroe Mustangs who completed the TK-6 Spanish Dual Immersion Pathway and are now ready to continue their bilingual journey at Fitz Intermediate Language Academy this fall.

GGUSD Celebrates its Graduates from GGUSD Adult Education Programs

Congratulations to the 80 amazing graduates of GGUSD's Adult Education program! Last week at Lincoln, we celebrated their hard work, dedication, and inspiring journeys toward success. For the first time ever, we also proudly honored students who completed our Pharmacy Technician and Phlebotomy programs — paving the way for bright futures in the healthcare field! From GEDs to career certifications, our graduates are proof that it’s never too late to achieve your dreams.

GGUSD Has Strong Showing in Strawberry Fesitval Parade

With marching bands, cheerleaders, PTA, Stanley’s Disney Musical cast, Santiago ROTC & Pacifica NJROTC, student leaders from all 8 high schools, and TWO buses full of pride — GGUSD showed up strong at this year’s 65th annual Strawberry Festival Parade! Our amazing student leaders proudly marched alongside Board of Education President Lan Nguyen, Trustees Teri Rocco & Walter Muneton, Superintendent Dr. Gabriela Mafi, and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Heflin — all celebrating school spirit, unity, and excellence. This hometown tradition was bursting with energy, smiles, and GGUSD pride.

Murdy Vietnamese Dual Immersion Scholars Advance to Next Level

Last week, Murdy Elementary celebrated a milestone moment during its Biliteracy Awards Ceremony — honoring the inaugural group of students who completed the Vietnamese Dual Language Immersion Pathway at the elementary level! These incredible scholars have worked tirelessly to become biliterate, bilingual, and bicultural, mastering both English and Vietnamese with impressive academic growth in both languages. Now headed to continue their dual language journey at McGarvin Intermediate, these students are setting the bar high and gaining a powerful edge for the future — academically, culturally, and globally.

Save the Date for Upcoming TK Meeting

Do you have a child born between September 2, 2020 and September 1, 2021? If so, they should be attending GGUSD Transitional Kindergarten (TK) in the fall! Save the date for our All About TK Parent Meeting via Zoom on Monday, June 9 at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

District leaders will present information on what to expect when your child begins TK in the 2025-2026 school year. Topics include enrollment, curriculum and instruction, how to prepare your child for TK, and other important things to know as your child begins this exciting step in their education.

You only need to attend one presentation as the same presentation is being provided twice (at 9 a.m. and again at 6 p.m.) to make it convenient for families. Interpretation will be provided in Spanish and Vietnamese.
