Ms. Hoagland: Math: This week we worked on interpreting mathematical equations as comparisons. We have completed the first four lessons in our book and even had a quiz.
Literacy: We read 2 stories in our reader, started our journals, worked on alphabetizing some pretty tough words and separated proper and common nouns.
Health: We have really focused on making good choices to maintain our mental, physical and emotional health. We have investigated numerous "health risks" in our environment and how to avoid them.
Practical Living: We are focusing on how to present ourselves in the best way possible. We started with dental health and will move to another health issue next week. We assigned weekly house-keeping jobs and even made cookies as a team project.
Physical Science: It's been all about the Metric System this week. We have investigated measuring with the English System as opposed to the Metric System. Ask your student about the "Metric Stairway". We are also learning how to convert English measurements into Metric measurements and vice versa.
Ms. Miller: We have had a wonderful start to the school year! In M
ath, we have been reviewing number patterns and sequences while getting settled into our daily routine. Next week, we will turn our focus toward fractions. In
Literacy, we have just started to explore our theme, "Heroes, Myths, and Monsters." This week we discussed our personal heroes and what makes someone a hero. Both
Spanish classes are using Duolingo and IXL Spanish to build their vocabulary, while we learn and review verb conjugations in class. Our
Senior Seminar Class spent time discussing the various benefits of having a hobby. We also tried our hand at juggling, and talked about how working at something difficult can help us develop perseverance and grit! ***
Students in seminar, please remember to complete and return your life skills assessments on Monday.***
