Help a local graduate student conduct research on Science Education!
Hello Fellow Educators!

My name is Ashli Wright and I am a graduate student at Florida International University (FIU) and I am conducting a study on teachers’ attitudes and motivations for reading and teaching with primary scientific literature (PSL).

The goal of this study is to examine the ways in which PSL can be used to inform effective instruction of STEM subjects. I am currently recruiting high school STEM teachers in the USA, whether they teach with PSL or not, to complete an ~20-minute online survey. The data collected from this study will help inform instructional practices using primary scientific literature and your participation will be instrumental in this pursuit.  As a former high school STEM teacher, myself, I understand how valuable your time is and thank you for your assistance. Click the button to the right to start the survey!

How do we turn casual observations into a well-designed research project? Using MDCPS pacing guides, we will learn how to think about real-world problems and develop and test hypotheses from our questions. Important aspects of this process that we will explore: How to navigate literature searches; How to develop experimental design; How to showcase our students’ work at conferences and science fairs, in journals, and source funding for these opportunities.
