High School Placement Test This Thursday
I was informed today that Holy Cross Academy is required to give the high school placement test to our 8th grade class on Thursday, November 21. Apparently, the test is being given to all elementary schools in the Diocese that day. This allows all the tests to be scored at the same time and results distributed to the Diocesan high schools in unison.
Our school calendar, completed last spring, had the HSPT on our calendar for December 5th. Prior to today, I did not think that was a problem. I apologize for this mistake on my part.
Students will take the HSPT in their homeroom class, proctored by their homeroom teacher. The test will take nearly the entire school day Thursday (the test is in four segments). Middle school teachers were made aware of this change in schedule today and will be updating their lesson plans accordingly.
Thankfully, there is not a way to specifically prepare for the HSPT and our students will be taking the test on the same day as their peers in other Diocesan schools. However, I feel badly for students who were surprised today by this news of the new testing date. I am confident that our students' hard work so far this school year will have them well prepared for the test Thursday.
On a brighter note, Bishop Burbidge really appreciated his time with our 8th grade class today. He told me that he found our "seniors" to be bright, engaging, and positive role models for the rest of our school. Thank you 8th graders!
