Newkirk Memorial
On July 8 family and friends of Nicolas Francois de la Garza Newkirk gathered at the ACC Round Rock campus for a celebration of his life. Nicolas was a dual credit student who passed away unexpectedly on March 27. The gathering included a butterfly release and dedication of a memorial plaque the family purchased for a bench by the campus fountain. The ACC Foundation has established a memorial fund in Nicolas's memory that will serve as the foundation for a new scholarship to benefit dual credit students.
To Drop or Not to Drop
To Drop or Not to Drop:
Should I withdraw from my ACC course?

Withdrawal: to drop from an ACC course before the end of the semester for academic or personal reasons. When a student withdraws from a course, they receive a grade of “W” on their transcript. Ws do not affect GPA, but they do affect completion rate.

Summer Withdrawal Deadlines:
10-week - July 26th
9-week - July 19th
5-week (second session) - August 2nd

Below is a flowchart to help you determine if dropping is the best option for you. Please keep in mind that this is meant to be a general guide, not a rulebook -- you should always consult your instructor, high school counselor, and ACC advisor before withdrawing from a course.
