Career Technical Education department has consistently implemented and enforced safety standards to keep our students safe at all times. Our CTE instructor's primary role is to maintain safety in and outside of their classroom effectively. As always, we appreciate every parent/guardian's support in this. I have included examples of shoes that are not allowed in the CTE building, and if your student is caught wearing inappropriate shoes or attires, we will mark present-unexcused. It signifies a need to talk with your student to ensure this does not happen again. We want all of our students to take advantage of our programs and prepare for their future. |

Jason Kulchinsky, a CTE teacher, invited two phenomenal individuals to present to his class on January 28, 2022, through the Zoom conference. Katherine Lees and Michele Lapides are founders of a company called dozanu innovations. Leaders of the BX Design team, which is inclusive. Click on this link for more details: www.dozanu.com. They identify as Deaf Queer women owners. They shared their insights about their business to our students currently in dual credits class under National Technical Institute for the Deaf (https://www.rit.edu/ntid/project-fast-forward). They shared their daily scopes of work, dealing with customers, HTML, CSS, paperwork, and working with hearing clients. Covid19 did not stop them from working. They continued working remotely. They encouraged students to continue their HTML & CSS skills, which will apply to websites and hardware screen interfaces. Thank you, Lees and Lapides, for the inspiration!
BTW: If you are age 16 and up and want to secure an internship with this company they encourage you to reach out. They want to see more youth committed to making their passion and dreams come true.

Dear CSD Community,
We’re thrilled to share that it is the Academic Bowl season once again, and our students will be playing in the West Regional Academic Bowl competition from February 7th – 18th. CSD won the last two West Regional championships and is trying for a third straight this year. In January, our players took the Gallaudet Academic Bowl Screening Test and, based on their performance, secured the #1 seed for the West competition.
We have a strong team and would like to congratulate Zoe Bell, Sevan Ikeda, Christopher Navarrete, and Chang-May Tan as they represent CSD this year. We also have five other students involved with Academic Bowl, and we sincerely appreciate their contributions: Gabriella Bibb, Geneva Brock, Nate Goff, Lelan Gonzales, and Emery Letendre-Jackson. Moreover, we appreciate all the support we’ve received from CSD and our community at every level.

How does Dual Credit Work?

Reza Mosher, alumni 2022, jump-started from Sophomore to Junior at Gallaudet University. How did she do this? Reza earned nine credits from dual courses under the Career Technical and Education department. She took Engineering, Graphic Design, and Forensics courses(3 credits each). She was able to transfer her RIT credits to Gallaudet University. As a result, she was able to accelerate her college program. Which saved her nearly a few thousand dollars.
