ore than 60 high school students from the "I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County and partner organizations will hone their skills in networking, i
nterviewing, and resume writing to better connect to the job market.
The lessons and workshops, led by Workforce Boulder County, are part of "I Have A Dream's" annual 2-Day Career Readiness Bootcamp, which takes place this Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13, at the University of Colorado-Boulder's Engineering School.
Day 1 features workshops on resume writing, interview skills, student expectations, and more. Students will also create a LinkedIn profile to better connect with potential employers.
Day 2 is full of mock interviews, where students will flex and build their interviewing skills with over 30 community volunteers who will serve as mock interviewers. During the lunch hour, students will take professional headshots to use for networking.
By the camp's end, students will have a complet
ed resume, interview experience including short answer/essay responses for interviewers, and information about potential local internship positions.
With this experience, these high schoolers will be able to apply for paid summer internships at local businesses and organizations, including Bould
er Housing Partners, City of Boulder, Clinica Campesina, Namaste Solar, and multiple departments at the University of Colorado-Boulder.
