Dear friends and neighbors,

This week, we were proud to work in the Energy and Commerce Committee to close gaps in internet access, improve cybersecurity, and make our telecom system more resilient. Last Congress, we secured billions for high-speed internet access with the American Rescue Plan and Infrastructure Law — including $1.17 billion in BEAD program funds recently awarded to Florida.

We also welcomed our union brothers and sisters from TWU Local 510 and discussed critical FAA reauthorization as well as the $200M+ we delivered for Orlando International Airport to improve air travel. On Wednesday, we celebrated Lineworker Appreciation Day with IBEW members. We are grateful to the lineworkers who brave the elements to keep our communities connected, especially after natural disasters like hurricanes. I'm proud to partner with them to upgrade Florida’s grid, boost clean energy, and create thousands of jobs.

Additionally, we welcomed the Florida Farm Bureau to Washington, D.C., as we continue working on the Farm Bill. As a member of the Agriculture Committee, I'm working to combat citrus greening, improve farm income and SNAP, support disaster relief, increase research, and more to help our farmers, growers, and ranchers.

Next week, we'll be back in Washington, D.C., continuing our efforts to bring critical resources and opportunities to our district and state.

In the District
Advocating for the Venezuelan Adjustment Act
We had a great roundtable alongside U.S. Representative Maxwell Frost, State Representative Johanna López, and supporters of the bipartisan Venezuelan Adjustment Act. In addition to TPS and a new parole program, this bill would give Venezuelans living in the U.S. a pathway to permanent legal status.
Celebrating Casa De Venezuela's 20th Anniversary
Congratulations to Casa de Venezuela on their 20th anniversary! Team Soto joined them to recognize their contributions to the Central Florida community. Throughout the years, they have provided support to incoming families and aid to those still in Venezuela.

FILE BY AUGUST 10: PACT Act Resources for Veterans
Toxic-exposed veterans in Central Florida deserve to access all their rightfully earned benefits without issue.

Veterans are encouraged to file claims by August 10 to have their benefits, if granted, backdated to August 10, 2022 — the day that President Biden signed the bill into law.

For more information, visit VA.gov/PACT or call 1-800-698-2411.
There has been an increase in PACT Act-related email, phone, and social media scams targeting veterans by offering to submit claims on their behalf. Click here to learn more.
