Capernwray Harbour Bible Centre

Capernwray Harbour Bible Centre is a Bible School and Conference Centre located off the West Coast of Canada. It serves as a branch of the international and interdenominational work of Torchbearers International, where Christ is proclaimed as the only Saviour, Lord, and indwelling Life. The Centre provides training in the Christian life through practical, short-term Bible School, conferences, retreats, outdoor education programmes, and evangelistic outreach.

Each year, from September to April, Capernwray Harbour welcomes a diverse community of one hundred students, spanning various ages, nationalities, and denominations, for the Bible School Programme. Together with the staff team, students form a community that seeks to discover the character of Jesus Christ and to experience the transforming power of His indwelling Life.

Nestled on 97 acres of woods, meadows, and seashore, Capernwray Harbour offers a diverse learning experience. Both indoor and outdoor classrooms are utilized throughout the year. The curriculum covers nearly all the books of the Bible. Although there are assignments, the emphasis is not on academic achievement but on the personal discovery of Jesus Christ through discipleship. Study projects, seminars, work days, outreaches, and extracurricular activities are all designed to foster this personal growth.

Providing a bridge to college-level writing, University-Ready Writing (URW) prepares students to tackle whatever professors assign. High school and college students learn effective note-taking strategies as they write précis (summaries), annotated bibliographies, and essays, tackling assignments of varying lengths from one paragraph to several pages. While students may be experienced with MLA Style for citations and bibliographies, this course also includes APA Style, which is required for many disciplines. URW provides students familiarity with common writing assignments before they even arrive on campus. 

Use this twelve-week course for your high school seniors or give your juniors a full year to tackle the assignments. The course is also great for learning to write scholarship and admissions essays.
