Probation and Parole Internships for Summer and Fall
Location: Statewide
|
|
Community Corrections under the NC Department of Public Safety is responsible for the supervision of all adult offenders on probation, parole or post-release parole supervision and offenders who transfer to North Carolina from other states.
Community Corrections Interns will have the opportunity to:
- Observe and assist with adult offender supervision in North Carolina;
- Accompany Probation/Parole Officers during home visits;
- Assist with offender office appointments to include verifying employment, conducting criminal record checks and completing assessments;
- Assist with the preparation of violation reports, Orders for Arrest and modification orders; and
- Assist with compiling reports on offender activity, court intake process.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
For consideration, students must have a junior or senior level standing at an accredited college with a major in Criminal Justice, Correctional Services, Psychology, Social Work or other Human Services major and have at least a 2.5 GPA, or
Must be pursuing a graduate degree in Criminal Justice, Correctional Services, Psychology, Social Work or other Human Services major and be in good standing with your accredited university.

Environmental Specialist I

The primary purpose of this position is to perform compliance inspections and issue permits as delegated to the regional office for facilities requiring 401 water quality permit certifications, NPDES permits, non-discharge permits, animal operations, groundwater well permitting (i.e., monitoring well, injection, supply, etc.), and other DWR jurisdictional regulatory programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
- Working knowledge of NPDES permit rules, compliance inspection processes, and/or permitting or enforcement processes within EPA, and/or Attorney General's Office.
- Documented knowledge of associated programs such as pretreatment, toxicity, sewer system permits, Special Orders and/or other enforcement tools.
- Documented knowledge of wastewater treatment processes.
- Documented knowledge in the environmental areas of biology, chemistry, and/or hydrology.
- Documented knowledge of environmental statutes and/or regulations.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Innovation and Implementation Division is seeking an individual for a Technical Design Analyst position. This person will have demonstrated knowledge of full stack software development, the functional aspects of designing an application, and the ability to work full-time remote.

- Fully understands, exhibits and maintains a high level of technical skill or knowledge in the area of application development and system integration.
- Detailed understanding of assigned data and the use of its systems via developing through test plans/scenarios.
- Skilled in enterprise systems and familiarity with best business practices related to systems
- Knowledge of security protocols for systems utilized.
- Knowledge of the current architecture of systems and information to troubleshoot problems.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution or Associate degree in Computer Science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development or High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
