Who We Are
The mission of Higher Education to NC Government (Ed2NC) Careers is to bring together leaders in state government and higher education to help create a pipeline of talent by connecting students and recent graduates with careers in state government.

A collaborative effort between the NC Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) and the NC Office of Strategic Partnerships (OSP), Ed2NC is committed to helping match qualified talent with competitive jobs at state government agencies.

The State of North Carolina Internships
Summer 2022 Internships in state government
Applications due January 3, 2022
40 hours per week|10 Weeks |$12 hourly

North Carolina state agencies are seeking 98 interns to work in a variety of positions in different departments across the state from the mountains to the coast. Summer internships range from network security to sustainability, workforce development, GIS shoreline mapping, community outreach, tax policy, and more.

NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources
Historically Black Colleges/Universities (HBCU) &
Minority Institutions of Higher Education (MIHE) Internship
Application Period Opens January 3, 2022

The Historically Black Colleges/Universities (HBCU) & Minority Institutions of Higher Education (MIHE) Internship is a paid, 10-week program designed to expose, engage and educate students by giving them tangible, real-world experience with various divisions within the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. DNCR has partnered with North Carolina’s HBCUs and MIHEs to provide this opportunity to rising juniors, seniors, and graduate students. Based on a 40-hour workweek, essential components of the program include professional development, leadership training, and networking opportunities. The application period opens on January 3, 2022.

NC Office of Strategic Partnerships (OSP) Summer Internship

OSP has summer internship opportunities available for college students at all levels. Interns will work on a range of issues and projects and with partners from state government, colleges/universities, philanthropy, and others. The application deadline is January 28, 2022.

Every application for employment received by the State of North Carolina is reviewed by a human decision-maker. Each application is handled with care by an agency recruiter and hiring manager to determine the right candidate for the position.
New Grads Prize Remote Work — And They Are Taking Pay Cuts To Get It.
Andy Medici, Senior Reporter for the Triangle Business Journal, writes that "more than two-thirds of recent graduates who got a job took a pay cut in order to get some degree of remote work — and the majority agree that remote work will be among their biggest factors in picking new jobs."

The findings are part of a survey of 1,000 recent college graduates by insurance provider Breeze, which reinforced the idea that remote work, whether full-time or in a hybrid situation, is rapidly becoming the expectation among new job seekers. Read the full article.

The NC Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is the lead stewardship agency for the protection of North Carolina's environmental resources. DEQ has offices from the mountains to the coast, administers regulatory programs designed to protect air quality, water quality, and the public's health, and also works to advance an all-of-the-above energy strategy that fits North Carolina’s needs.
