Higher education conference committee to meet Tuesday
Today marks the second agreed-upon deadline when all fiscal targets are to be provided to the chairs of conference committees on major finance bills through joint agreement by Gov. Tim Walz, House DFL leadership, and Senate Republican leadership. Legislative leaders and the Governor have been meeting throughout the weekend and today to come to an agreement. At this time, there has been no word on a budget agreement.

Conference committees will focus their efforts this week on reconciling the differences between the House and Senate versions of the budget bills with the goal of meeting the budget target that will be provided by leadership.

The higher education omnibus bill conference committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. in the State Capitol, Room 123. The conference committee is planning to go through the side-by-side comparison of the two bills, as well as take public testimony.

Documents for the hearing can be found at the links below:

The next deadline is Monday, May 13, when conference committee reports must be passed out of their respective conference committees and sent to the House and Senate floors for consideration.

The 2019 legislative session is scheduled to conclude on Monday, May 20.
