A Message from Our Senior Leaders

We’re delighted to share the very first edition of our community newsletter!

This newsletter is a way for us to stay connected, keep you informed about hospital news, and continue to keep the lines of communication open. It will have resources you may find useful. As your community hospital, we also want to make sure you know about the many health services available right here in the South Wedge neighborhood.

You’ll receive this newsletter directly in your inbox, and we’ll also post each edition on our Facebook page and website for easy access.

We’ve enjoyed meeting many of you and want to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who joined us for the informational session at Olmsted Lodge on August 13, as well as those who viewed the recording of the meeting online. Your engagement and thoughtful questions reflect the care and pride you have in our community.

As we approach the holiday season, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude for the kindness, collaboration, and community spirit that make the South Wedge neighborhood a special place. We are truly thankful to be part of it.

We hope you’ll stop by Friday, December 5 to celebrate the holiday season with us when we flip the switch on thousands of twinkling lights that shine on the Highland Hospital campus. (See the article below for details.)

We look forward to continuing to grow alongside you and working together to ensure our community remains strong, connected, and thriving for years to come.

With appreciation,

South Avenue Garage Lighting Update

In response to concerns raised by our neighbors, Highland Hospital’s Facilities team explored ways to adjust the lighting of the South Avenue Garage.

To address the issue of nighttime glare, the lights have been placed on a timer, and will turn off from 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. when the garage is closed.

The Facilities team will continue to explore lighting options and will keep you updated on any changes.

You're Invited! Highland Holiday Lights Celebration

Neighbors are invited to join Highland Hospital senior leaders and employees for our annual Highland Holiday Lights celebration. On Friday, December 5, we’ll kick off the season with the ceremonial lighting of our holiday display, which includes hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights that adorn buildings, parking garages, trees, and light poles throughout the campus.

It’s the largest hospital holiday lights display in the region, thanks to our dedicated grounds crew, Tom Ellis and George Selvek, who begin setting up in October and work tirelessly each day until it’s time to flip the switch.

Join us for hot cocoa and cookies in the hospital’s main entrance beginning at 4 p.m., followed by the official lighting of our holiday display.

We hope to see you!
