Mad for Plaid boosted January paycheck for
HPISD staff
HPISD employees received an additional boost in their January paycheck over and above the previously announced one-time payment, thanks to the success of last year's 2020-21 Mad for Plaid campaign. Exempt staff members received an additional $500 in their January check while non-exempt staff members received an additional $250.
Combined with the one-time payment made possible by funds generated through the Golden Penny election, exempt staff members with 10 or more years of experience received a one-time payment in January of $3,000, while non-exempt staff members with 10 or more years of experience received a one-time payment of $1,500. Exempt staff members with less than 10 years of experience received a one-time payment of $2,500, while non-exempt staff with less than 10 years of experience received $1,250. The one-time payment follows the December paycheck that began to provide a 3% increase to the midpoint of each person’s salary.
“Once again, the generosity of this community and its appreciation for the work of HPISD staff is on full display,” said HPISD Superintendent Tom Trigg. “Thank you to everyone involved with the Mad for Plaid campaign, from the many donors to the volunteers who worked so hard, as well as to the staff of the Highland Park Education Foundation.”
“The last two years have been as difficult as any in education and we want to make sure our teachers and staff know how much they, and their work, are appreciated,” said Michael Denton Jr., president of the Highland Park Education Foundation Board. “It is our sincere hope that HPISD staff members feel supported by the Park Cities community.”
