New Investment Opportunities in the Ancaster Business Park
 
Recently, the City of Hamilton began construction on the Cormorant Road extension in the Ancaster Business Park. This work will open 50 new acres of employment lands for development in the Ancaster Business Park. MesoMat Wins $76,000  at LiON'S LAIR 2018 With Their "Conductible, Body Conforming, Wearable Technology"

MesoMat was named the grand-prize winner of the 8th Annual LiON's Lair event, taking home a prize of $76,000 in cash and in-kind resources, for their wearable, stretchable conductible technology. MesoMat began in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at McMaster University and through fundamental research on soft materials and the physics of self-assembly a technique to cheaply fabricate microscopic coils was discovered along with a process to fabricate stretchable, flexible conductive fibres.
 
The second place prize of more than $56,000 in cash and in-kind prizes was awarded to Benjamin Lee, founder of Altius Analytics, a hardware and software company that allows you to seamlessly record and analyze 3D human motion. Third place was awarded to Chad Ingles and Ryan O'Grady of Fotaflo, a profit-generating referral marketing solution that easily captures and shares photos and videos for the adventure tourism and camp industries, who took home $45,000 in cash and in-kind prizes.  
Tourism Hamilton User Generated Campaign Wins Provincial Marketing Award        

Tourism Hamilton has won a provincial marketing award for its user-generated #MyHamilton campaign. The award was announced at the 2018 Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence Gala at the annual Ontario Tourism Summit.

The winning tourism campaign (in the under $50K category) encouraged the creation of influential Hamilton stories, photos and social media posts from travellers and locals alike - all rallying around the #MyHamilton hashtag and showcasing the best of the city. The campaign included: the   #MyHamilton photo contest ; compelling storytelling through #MyHamilton guest bloggers and influencer partnerships ; and a successful push to increase use of the #MyHamilton hashtag on social media, with more than 22,000 posts tagged on Instagram alone.
Export Market Access (EMA): 2018 Program Enhancements      

Export Market Access (EMA) is an Ontario government funding program that funds activities to help businesses improve their export activities. Recent changes have improved this program; whether you've used it in the past or plan to conduct export marketing activities in the future, Ontario businesses should be aware of this program's capabilities. EMA's mid-2018 program update increases the maximum funding allocation, as well as additional project/expense areas.
