Transforming Health With Fresh Food
VEGGIERX CONTINUES TO EXPAND ACCESS TO NUTRITIOUS FOOD
| |
Fresh, locally grown produce is at the heart of VeggieRx. By partnering with five local family-owned farms, the program expands access to nutritious food while supporting the farmers who help nourish our community.
Last fiscal year, VeggieRx completed 3,336 produce deliveries, providing more than $133,000 worth of fresh food to participants across Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito County. Today, 319 participants are enrolled in the program, with families in 22 communities benefiting from fresh produce and nutrition support. By June 2027, VeggieRx is projected to complete 6,000 deliveries; that's nearly $240,000 worth of fresh food distributed throughout our community!
VeggieRx proudly partners with Tu Universo, Zamudio Farms, Gallardos Organic Farm, Avalos Organic Farm, and Ponce Organic Farm, including women-owned and BIPOC-owned farms. Every produce box supports these local farmers while connecting more families with fresh, locally grown food, creating healthier communities and a stronger local food system.
Interested in VeggieRx? If you're a Central California Alliance for Health member, you may be eligible to receive fresh produce through the program. Talk to your primary care provider or visit our website to learn more and get started.
