Building opportunities for sustainable, affordable housing in northern Arizona.

JULY 2025

SPOTLIGHT

Watch Joanne’s Story, Read by Andrea

Our Children's Program Coordinator, Andrea, shares the powerful journey of a former Sharon Manor resident and her children. From isolation and fear to safety and support, Joanne’s story is one of resilience, healing, and hope.

We invite you to take a few minutes to listen, honor Joanne’s story, and reflect on the impact that safe, supportive housing can have in the lives of local survivors and households experiencing homelessness.

HIGHLIGHTS

July Volunteer of the Month

A huge congratulations to Olivia, our Sharon's Attic Volunteer of the Month! Olivia, a recent Social Work program graduate, met our Thrift Store Manager while working at a local coffee shop and quickly stepped up to volunteer this summer. With a heart for service, Olivia became a key part of our clothing department team. Thank you, Olivia, for bringing your energy, compassion, and commitment to empowering local survivors of domestic violence!

Updates at Sharon Manor

We’ve prioritized necessary building maintenance at Sharon Manor the past couple of years. Updates include replacing unsafe stairways, installing new windows, upgrading heating and cooling units, and most recently, adding fresh exterior paint. These improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to providing not just affordable housing—but housing that is safe and dignified for survivors of domestic violence rebuilding after homelessness.

Financial Literacy for Residents

Our JoJo’s Place Program hosted three financial literacy classes last month (taught by PNC Bank and Teresa Gault with the County), covering the topics of budgeting, identity theft, and debt control. Many residents expressed interest in our Credit Counseling program, and have been referred to our HUD-certified Housing Counselor and Housing Programs Manager, Angela Koder.

Sharon Manor BBQ

Our Sharon Manor program celebrated the end of the school year with a fun-filled BBQ for residents! It was a joyful way to kick off summer—especially for the amazing kids and youth who call Sharon Manor home.

Oak Wash Homes Update

We’re excited to share that as of July 1st, 24 households experiencing homelessness have moved into our new permanent affordable housing community in Cottonwood - Oak Wash Homes!

LAST MONTH'S IMPACT

Sharon Manor Transitional Housing

Last month, 2 adults and 6 children transitioned from homelessness into safe, supportive housing at Sharon Manor. These resilient survivors of domestic violence now have access to trauma-informed case management, group support, and children’s programming to help them rebuild.

First Time Homebuyers

3 local households became homeowners last month thanks to down payment assistance administered by our pre-purchase program! We're excited to help strengthen family stability and deepen roots in our community.

JoJo's Place Transitional Housing

Last month, 5 households experiencing homelessness moved into JoJo’s Place studio apartments, and 3 successfully transitioned into permanent, affordable housing. These milestones highlight how safe, supportive transitional housing paired with on-site case management can create a pathway to lasting stability.

Affordable Rentals

Last month, 49 households remained stably housed through our affordable rental programs. This includes 25 low-income households in Flagstaff homes and condos, as well as 24 formerly homeless households now settled into permanent housing at Oak Wash Homes in Cottonwood.

Vouchers for Essentials

4 households from our Sharon Manor transitional housing program and 2 from JoJo's Place used a Sharon's Attic clothing and home goods voucher, allowing them to shop for essential items and furniture at our thrift store. Thank you for donating your gently used furniture and household goods - it makes a diference!

Community Loan Center of Arizona

In June, 83 small-dollar loans were issued to Arizonans employed by participating Community Loan Center employers—promoting financial stability and helping borrowers avoid predatory lending.
