Highlights from 118th Presbytery Meeting

The Presbytery of the James held a Stated Meeting on October 19, 2024 at Second Presbyterian Church, Richmond and on Zoom, where the following actions took place. For greater detail, please view the full meeting summary.

  • Motions for the election of members to the Committee on Representation and the Committee on Nominations were adopted.
  • Motion for the election of nominees presented by the Committee on Nominations was adopted.
  • Motion to approve use of monies from the Church and Ministries Development Fund for severance agreements with Rev. Dr. Floretta Barbee-Watkins and Rev. Leigh Anne Ring was adopted.
  • Motion to approve the Antiracism Policy was adopted.

Antiracism Policy

All are invited to attend the upcoming virtual listening sessions concerning the Presbytery's proposed 2025 budget which will be accessible via Zoom. We hope you can join us. Please review the budget explanation and bring your suggestions and questions to the sessions. Please register by clicking below.

The called special meeting to act on the proposed budget will be virtual on November 19 at 7 p.m. Registration will open November 5 and close at noon on November 18.

Reminder to Review Proposed Amendments

Please remember to take a look over these proposed amendments to the Constitution (Book of Order) and the recommendations for Episcopal-Presbyterian agreement. These amendments were approved by the 226th General Assembly (2024) and recommended to the presbyteries for their vote.


The POJ will vote on these proposed amendments February 15, 2025.

Richmonders for Peace in Israel-Palestine

November 3, 11:30 a.m. (following worship)

WPC welcomes Nancy Wein and Adeeb Abed from Richmonders for Peace in Israel-Palestine (RPIP) to speak about the background and ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, and their own experiences related to the conflict for Nancy, as a Jewish woman, and Adeeb, as a Palestinian man. Prior to the forum, they've asked that you watch the movie “Occupation 101."
