Private Beach News

• The backup generator has been delivered and installed.
• A few remaining inspections are in progress to obtain the final Certificate of Occupancy, which would allow operating hours to be extended to 9:30 p.m.
• Since opening the facility, the live Beach Cameras have reached a total of 3,000 views.

Projects

• The lake shore remediation at Lake 21 in Wedgewood is expected to be completed by Christmas 2025.
• The lake shore remediation at Lake 31, near Oak Knoll, Hidden Harbor, and Sandpiper, is currently in the permitting stage.
• The Riverwalk Park Docks repainting will soon be completed.

Pickleball Court Construction

• Demolition, utility relocation, drainage installation, and grading are complete. Next steps include pouring the concrete, anticipated before Christmas, followed by a 30–35 day curing period to ensure proper setting.
• Off-site pickleball is available at Sports Challenge America until February 2026. The schedule is posted on the BBCA website here.

Safety & Loss Prevention

• LCSO continues to issue tickets for speeding and stop sign violations.

Private Beach Cost Reconciliation

• The Board presented a detailed analysis of the cost overruns for the construction of the new Private Beach facility, explaining why the final cost of $9.4 million exceeded the original estimate of $6.3 million by $3.1 million.
• The Board does not plan to issue another special assessment. Instead, they will review budgets for cost savings.

2040 Vision Survey Presentation

• Edie Hunt, Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, shared the results of the 2040 Vision survey, which was conducted in October with a 30% participation rate.
• Key priorities identified by respondents included Nature's Pathway, Technology Integration, and Aging in Place.
• The full results will be shared with the community on January 8.
• Upcoming Town Halls on January 20 and February 3 will gather additional input from residents.

BBCA Foundation Discussion

• The Board discussed the creation of a new 501(c)(3) charitable organization, Bonita Bay Community Association Foundation, that would assist BBCA employees facing a personal, life-changing hardship resulting in a financial burden due to loss attributed from an emergency disaster, traumatic incident, or catastrophic medical event.
• Additionally, the charitable foundation seeks to promote, encourage, and advance educational opportunities by providing BBCA employees and family members with education and athletic scholarships and funding for professional learning programs.
• The foundation initiative was approved and the Board agreed to file the Articles of Incorporation.
