Celebrating 100 Years of the Immaculata University Alumni Association

The Immaculata University Alumni Association turns 100 in 2025! We invite all alumni to help celebrate this milestone anniversary by joining us for at least one of the over 50 alumni events offered this year. There are also many opportunities to volunteer in assisting your alma mater as we venture into the next 100 years.

Your participation can begin by voting in this year's Alumni Board of Governors (details below). If you seek a more active role, check out the volunteer opportunities under "Resolve to Get Involved." And, of course, we want to SEE you at this year's events, a full list of which can be found online here. The year begins with four alumni events this month, all of which are detailed under "Alumni Events" below - please make plans to join us!

Resolve to Get Involved in 2025

Immaculata University alumni have numerous opportunities to get involved in the IU community. Voting in Alumni Board elections and attending alumni events are easy ways to stay connected! You can also make an impact through these volunteer opportunities open to all alumni:

Become a Class Representative: A Class Representative is a liaison between classmates and the Alumni Office; responsible for communicating important University news, generating enthusiasm and encouraging participation in alumni events (reunion) and fundraising programs. Contact Karen DeLucia Matweychuk '83 for more information: kmatweychuk@immaculata.edu or 484-323-3958.

Become a Class Agent: Similar to Class Representatives, Class Agents inspire fellow classmates to support and stay connected with Immaculata. Agents work with the Office of Institutional Advancement to promote University activities, share campus news and encourage classmates to participate in financial support of Immaculata. Class Agents are advocates for special events such as the Day of Giving, Reunion giving and other hallmark occasions. Contact Kathy Freney Smith '90 for more information: kfreneysmith@immaculata.edu or 484-323-3319.

Join the 20Below Alumni Council: Provide input for new events and engagement strategies designed to connect 20BELOW alumni (graduates of the last 20 years) to Immaculata while expanding your personal and professional network. Contact Brigid Whelihan for more information: bwhelihan@immaculata.edu or 484-323-3225.

With Appreciation

Immaculata University expresses grateful appreciation and thanks to Patricia Crea LaRocco '71, M.D. for her love of Immaculata, music, Carol Night and her very special gift of sponsoring the 2024 Christmas tree.

Thank You for Supporting IU & Our Students

THANK YOU to many generous alumni who helped Mac have a good Christmas, and congratulations to the winner of Mac's Christmas Challenge - Virginia Walz Alpaugh '64.

921 alumni already made a gift to the Immaculata Fund for this fiscal year (July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025). With a participation goal of 1,400 alumni donors (6.5% of our alumni base) this year, these gifts take us to 66% of goal. Help us reach our goal by being one of an additional 479 alumni to make your online gift here. Not sure if you participated? Check the list here.

Share Your Service Activities

Many of us are actively engaged in community service projects / volunteer work, and most of this work is unsung. The Service Committee of the Alumni Association Board of Governors would like to take the opportunity to highlight the great work performed by IU alumni in their communities, especially during the holiday season.

If you would like to share your service / volunteer work, please send that information (and a photo of you at the volunteer site if applicable) to: AlumniDept@immaculata.edu

This collaboration has fostered seamless transitions from education to professional practice for graduates. In 2024, MLH welcomed 18 Immaculata nursing graduates into their nurse residency program. Additionally, nine current students were hired as part of MLH’s nurse extern program, allowing them to gain invaluable experience as patient care technicians and support nurses with patient care responsibilities. Preparing Students to Lead in Times of Crisis

“It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently,” said businessman and investor Warren Buffet.

Reputation is everything in today’s fast-paced, digitally connected world, where news and information (factual or otherwise) are instantaneous and can influence whether a company will skyrocket to success or fall like the Roman Empire. Recognizing this importance, the crisis communication course at Immaculata, taught by Melissa Rice, Ph.D., offers a dynamic blend of theory and practical application, providing students with the tools to make a meaningful impact within organizations.
