As our Board of Directors reflects over the last year, we accomplished many things despite the craziness of 2020. We ended the year in a very positive place. Even though we had to change directions many times due to the pandemic, we can celebrate a successful year. Watch the 1.5-minute 2020 video recap below. We are dedicated to continuing to serve our members for years to come!

VBR Board of Directors:
- The Vail Board of Realtors' leadership team joined a coalition of Realtors®, commissioners, vacation rental, and property managers to meet with State Senators at the State Capitol in Denver to discuss SB-109. This bill would reclassify short-term rentals from residential use to commercial use, thereby increasing the property tax from seven to 29 percent. SB-109 died and did not move forward this legislative session.
- We offered our first member Ski and Ride Day in early March.
- When COVID hit we kept members up-to-date with ever-changing regulations. We helped in determining if real estate was essential. Writing to Representatives Dylan Roberts and Kerry Donovan to make sure our voices were heard. We are very thankful to CAR and NAR for their additional efforts, and RPAC dollars were working hard during this time to ensure home buyers and sellers could purchase homes during this time.
- We connected members on video calls, and we provided our first ever General Membership Meeting on Zoom in April.
- After hearing concerns from neighbors in the community, we put together the Safe Showing Pledge to ensure home buyers and sellers could feel safe and know what to expect while following DORA's guidelines. This program was very successful and others across Colorado launched the same program.
-
The REALFire® Program has been in the national spotlight with the wildfires that impacted California and Colorado. Our program was discussed on NPR. REALFire inspects about 80 homes per year in Eagle County. To truly reduce wildfire risk in the community, almost every home needs to participate. Our call for action is to make sure that members share this program with all clients.
- This summer, the Vail Board of Realtors® was the Presenting Sponsor of "Home for Hounds," a public art exhibit and fundraiser in Avon. Individuals and businesses designed and built doghouses to be auctioned off to raise money for the Eagle County Humane Society and the Vail Board of Realtors® Foundation.
- We offered the CREC Annual Update for free to all members, and 373 members benefited in 2020.
- We provided FREE REALTOR® masks for any members needing them.
-
We hosted a virtual Affiliate Expo on social media to promote our affiliate partners.
- We hosted our first combo in-person/virtual General Membership Meeting in October.
- We ran Realtor® focused public relations campaigns in Vail Daily and HOME magazine each month.
- We have 17 members enrolled in the healthcare benefit program offered by the Colorado Association of Realtors®.
- The VBR office is getting a renovation that will provide our members with a modern, functional, and upgraded space for years to come!
-
VBR donated $7,500 to Vail Valley Salvation Army and Eagle Valley Community Foundation to support those in need, and those out of work needing food and housing assistance throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds originally were budgeted for the VBR Holiday Party.

VBR Foundation Board of Directors:
The Vail Board of Realtors® Foundation (VBRF) continues to support our community.
This separate 501c3 has funds available for members needing financial assistance due to a catastrophic illness or accident for use towards expenses related to medical issues or disaster relief.
- In 2020, the VBR Foundation supported 15 nonprofits, helped two families, provided disaster support to those affected by Hurricane Laura and the Grand County Wildfires, and awarded 21 Eagle County students a total of $35,000 in college scholarships for outstanding performance.
- The VBRF provided a total of $81,000 back to our community in 2020.
- We hosted our first virtual golf tournament in September and an online holiday auction in December.
- The VBRF raised $14,000 with themed gift baskets that were auctioned off to raise money for the 2021 scholarship program. 100% of the funds raised at the event are awarded to Eagle County students for college scholarships.
