GGUSD Schools Earn High Rankings among America's Best

Garden Grove Unified School District is proud to celebrate outstanding academic excellence across our schools! Last week, U.S. News & World Report released its 2026 rankings of America’s Best K-8 Schools, and GGUSD schools continue to shine.

All GGUSD elementary and intermediate schools earned recognition — with 40 elementary schools and all 10 intermediate schools placing among the top 40% in California. A special congratulations to the 18 elementary schools that ranked in the top 20% statewide, including: Allen, Anthony, Barker, Cook, Enders, Excelsior, Evans, Garden Park, Gilbert, Hazard, Morningside, Murdy, Paine, Parkview, Patton, Post, Stanford, and Sunnyside Elementary Schools.

Allen Elementary earned an exceptional spot in the top 50 of all California elementary schools, while Bell, McGarvin, and Jordan Intermediate Schools ranked in the top 10% of California middle schools! GGUSD continues to provide a world-class education that prepares every student for lifelong success.

GGUSD Hosts a Successful Parent Leadership Academy

It was a packed house at the Garden Grove Community Center on Thursday for GGUSD's Parent Leadership Academy! Parent leaders and school administrators came together to share and discuss their schools’ parent and family engagement practices across six key areas: parenting, communicating, volunteering, learning at home, decision making, and collaborating with the community. GGUSD is proud to empower parents as partners in education and celebrate the teamwork that helps every student succeed! Thank you to Trustee Teri Rocco for attending to show her support for parent and family engagement.

Low-Cost Preschool Opens at Enders Elementary School

Earlier this week, GGUSD marked the expansion of our low-cost preschool program with the grand opening at Enders Elementary School! With our first low-cost preschool offered at Skylark, this beloved program is now available at Enders — giving even more families access to a high-quality, affordable option that helps prepare preschoolers for kindergarten success. What a joyous day it was as students met their new teachers and proudly became Enders Mustangs! Thank you to Board of Education President Lan Nguyen and Trustee Teri Rocco who attended to show their support.

GGUSD Students Shine at Showcase of the Bands

On Wednesday, GGUSD welcomed the community to its annual Showcase of Bands at Bolsa Grande High School. Attendees enjoyed exceptional performances from all 7 of the district's high school marching bands. From powerful drumlines to dazzling field shows, the student musicians showcased their talent, hard work, and school spirit in a truly unforgettable way! A big thank you to all the students, band directors, staff and families who made this event possible. Their dedication and passion for music were on full display, making the evening one to remember!

Schools Across GGUSD Celebrate the 60th Day of School in Honor of GGUSD's 60th Anniversary Year

Monday, November 3rd marked a special milestone across the district — the 60th day of school! To celebrate, schools throughout GGUSD hosted fun and festive activities. From birthday-themed parties to creative photo ops and schoolwide displays, students and staff came together to honor this moment during our 60th anniversary year!

Students Take Action Against Substance Abuse

Garden Grove Unified School District is proud to recognize Santiago High School’s Kimberly Tran and La Quinta High School’s Ivy Pham for representing GGUSD at the “Red Ribbon in Action: What Prevention Looks Like Today” event hosted by the Orange County Department of Education’s Friday Night Live Partnership. As part of the Orange County Youth Council, Kimberly and Ivy shared powerful insights on youth-driven approaches to substance use prevention, highlighting how their Friday Night Live chapters lead awareness campaigns, media literacy trainings, and mental health promotion activities that strengthen peer connections and promote healthy lifestyles. We’re so proud of these student leaders for making a positive impact in their schools and community and thank you to OCDE for highlighting out students!

Pacifica Community Comes Together to Honor Former Student

Pacifica High School’s Life Skills program recently hosted a heartfelt pop-up fundraiser in memory of former student, Pablo Escobar, Class of 2025. Pablo was an energetic, happy student who brought joy to everyone he met. A proud Dodgers and Raiders fan, he would have been thrilled to see the Dodgers win the World Series this year! All proceeds from the baked goods fundraiser are being donated to Pablo’s family in his honor. Pictured are Pablo’s parents and sister, along with former principal Mr. Osborne, Special Education Teacher Ms. Spencer, and members of OC Fire, who came together to show their support and love for Pablo’s memory.

Faylane Hosts Sock-Tober to Help Families in Need

Faylane Elementary’s Community Schools team, PBIS team, and Student Leadership hosted a heartwarming Sock-Tober event last month! Throughout October, students and families collected an incredible 767 pairs of new socks to donate in support of Clinton Corner. Socks are the #1 requested item during the winter months, and Faylane’s generosity shines bright—showing that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference!

GGUSD has partnered with Varsity Tutors to offer FREE 24/7 live chat tutoring and one-hour tutoring sessions to support students in their academic success (Goal 1). The program is accessible from home through ClassLink using a district-provided device.
