Highways And Hedges!!! 11/20 24
Matthew 22:9 (KJV)
9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
Luke 14:23 (KJV)
23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
In Matthew 22 and Luke 14 JESUS is talking about the SOON COMING Marriage of the bridegroom and the KING OF GLORY, JESUS!!!!!
Many, if fact, EVERYONE is invited to this grand Event, but SADLY, many, if not most have and will decline Jesus' gracious offer of life eternal.
Luke 14:15-21 (KJV)
15 And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:
17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
My BELOVED brethren, we ALL are CALLED/tasked with Jesus' Great Commission:
Matthew 28:19 (KJV)
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
In other words, may I paraphrase.......
“GO YE INTO ALL THE WORLD AND PREACH THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST...............
AND-IF NECESSARY-USE WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
WE-AND I SINCERELY MEAN WE-are equally CALLED and equipped to do Jesus' bidding-YOU do not need an ordination or a title OR a Church pulpit or affiliation to GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like MY definition of what WE and the Church MUST do:
WE/THE CHURCH must spend more time and effort taking the WATER/WORD of Jesus to the desert-not the ocean!!! The ocean is full.........................

HIGHWAYS AND HEDGES, to me, conjures up a mental picture of “On a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha as recorded by Bob Seger.
Highways and hedges are most likely the least traveled, barren landscape, wilderness, and/or sparsely populated................
Like the HUNGRY,the THIRSTY, the STRANGERS, like the Naked, like the SICK, like the PRISONERS...........................................................................
Matthew 25:34-40 (KJV)
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
In closing, I had a PRISONER call me this past week. He was EXALTING in the PRIVILEGE of eating some WARM chicken tenders-a RARE treat.
That RARE treat was provided by someone who went the extra mile and sent him the money..................................
WE ARE ALL 1 PERCENTERS!!!!!!!!!!!! Please forgive the spelling!! We, those of us who are PRIVILEGED to be free, are BLESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!
As we enter “the GIVING SEASON/CHRISTMAS,” may we concentrate of “TAKING THE WATER OF LIFE TO THE DESERT AND NOT SO MUCH THE OCEAN!!!!!!”
Truly, the “squeaky wheel needs/deserves the grease!!!”
