Call for Winter Guided Events

Deadline: December 8


Hike Nova Scotia invites groups across NS to partner with it on delivering guided hike, walk or snowshoe events in winter 2025. Hike NS will help promote events and provide a how-to guide and trail prizes to give away. If your municipality, First Nation or organization can organize a hike, walk or snowshoe event (or already plan to host one), please register your event by December 8, 2024 for events between January 17 and March 16, 2025.

Hiking Summit: Venue & Accommodations


The 2025 Hiking Summit will be held in Bridgewater from May 30 to June 1. The venue will be the Days Inn in Bridgewater (50 North St.). It has a special room rate for Summit attendees at $150/night plus HST (based on 1 or 2 people/room with free breakfast). You can only get this rate by calling the hotel directly at (902) 543-7131. Seeking 2026 Hiking Summit Co-Host


Hike NS is now seeking applications to co-host the 2026 Hiking Summit, with a deadline of February 28, 2025. A celebration of hiking culture, the Summit is usually held each Spring and moves to a different part of the province every year to support the local hiking movement and highlight local trails and attractions. With up to 250 people expected, such an event is also an economic boost to a community.

Protector Our Winters Canada and Waterloo University recently published a report measuring the economic impact of the outdoor recreation economy. The outdoor recreation industry is an economic powerhouse and a major part of Canada’s economy, representing 1,096,8492 Canadian jobs (full-time equivalent) and $101.6 BILLION in economic contribution annually.
