Trail Builders Network News

North American Trail Sector Survey

If you manage, build, maintain or plan trails, please take this survey. The results will inform the trail community across North America about the current health of trails, trail systems, and trail organizations, identify pressure points and obstacles for growth, and arm advocates with the data they need to make the case for trails in their region. This survey is for professionals working or volunteering in the trail sector, it is not for trail users. The deadline to reply is March 31. Take the survey here.

Thanks for Sharing the Love!

Hike NS would like to thank all the MLAs and avid hikers who took part in our #LoveOurTrailsNS challenge in the month of February.

We saw lots of great photos of Nova Scotians all over the province on local trails to share their support for our trails!

It is clear that these folks think our trails are important and need to be protected and supported.

Call for Treasurer

Hike Nova Scotia seeks board members across the province who have the time and energy to devote to helping Hike NS achieve its mandate of creating a culture of hiking, walking and snowshoeing in our beautiful province. There are some perks; travel is reimbursed and food is provided for in-person meetings. The board meets four to five times per year in person or virtually. Board members are expected to contribute some hours each month to subcommittee work. In particular we are looking for a Treasurer, preferably with a background in bookkeeping or accounting. Contact Hike NS at [email protected] to express your interest in becoming a board member or nominate someone. Check out the website to learn more about Hike NS.

Shorebird Survey

Birds Canada wants to learn about local birders’ interest in shorebirds, shorebird identification skills and understand factors that might limit birders’ involvement as volunteer shorebird surveyors. Results will be used to guide training and volunteer recruitment. Take the survey.

North Highlands Nordic Snowshoeing

North Highlands Nordic, found in Cape North, hosts a full moon group snowshoe each month from January to March and a weekly social for snowshoers and skiers called Tuesday Tea & Ski or Snowshoe Social. Learn more here.
