New Cliffs of Fundy Badge


Hike Nova Scotia and the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark have launched the new Cliffs of Fundy Badge as part of Hike NS’s Hiker Challenge. The badge is free and challenges you to hike at least eight trails among a select list of Geopark trails within a year. Learn more here.

Call for Winter Guided Hikes & Walks

Deadline: December 10


Hike Nova Scotia invites groups across NS to partner with it on delivering guided hike, walk or snowshoe events in winter 2024. Hike NS will help promote events and provide a how-to guide and trail prizes to give away. If your municipality, First Nation or organization can organize a hike, walk or snowshoe event (or already plan to host one), please register your event by December 10, 2023 for events between January 12 and March 17, 2024.

Fall Guided Hike & Walk Series


Hike Nova Scotia and 16 host organizations offer the 2023 Fall Guided Hike & Walk Series across NS. There are 38 events led by local folks and participants qualify to win trail prizes. They are free or low-cost events and some require pre-registration. We thank our partners on the ground for organizing the events as well as Goose Lane Editions and the NS Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage for their support.

Province Announces $5 Million for Damaged Trails

We’re jumping for joy! Hike NS, on behalf of the majority of trail users in NS, thanks the Government of Nova Scotia for dedicating $5 million for trail repair. Trail builders and hikers asked for this support and you listened to us! Learn more about this provincial investment.

Communications Coordinator


Hike NS is hiring a Communications Coordinator who is responsible for supporting our work through the development and management of various communications tools. The role of this full-time, permanent position is to help grow and manage the Hike NS brand and build awareness of its programs and services. Because the first year of this position is supported through a youth-focused wage subsidy, the successful candidate must: be 30 years of age or under; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or hold refugee status in Canada; and have a post-secondary accomplishment. The fight to Save the Sandy Lake - Sackville River Regional Park area from development continues. You can now get lawn signs to help spread the word from your property. Follow and repost on social media and to help with the letter-writing campaign. Learn more here.

Give Input on Coastal Protection


The Province is consulting with coastal property owners on how to plan and adapt development along the coastline, in response to climate change. The deadline for input is November 7. Input is welcome from all Nova Scotians (not just property owners). Learn more here.
